Noah Syndergaard allowed just one run and fanned seven hitters over seven innings of work in a win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Syndergaard scattered six hits, and he walked just one while striking out seven. Thor was efficient in this one, as he threw 70 strikes over his 102 pitches, and the only run off him came on a ground-ball out by Jeff Mathis in the second inning. The seven one-run innings lower Syndergaard’s ERA to 2.91 and his WHIP to 1.19, and he’s fanned 68 hitters in just under 59 innings. His next scheduled start comes Friday against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

Amed Rosario homered twice in a 4-1 victory over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The first homer was a solo shot off of Clay Buchholz -- the only run he allowed on the game -- and Rosario homered again off of Jorge De La Rosa an inning later to give him two on the game and two on the season. The 22-year-old shortstop has not been exceptional with the bat in 2018, and even with the two homers his line still sits at a disappointing .248/.273/.368 on the season. Don't expect many more homers this year, but this could (hopefully) begin a strong run for the second-year shortstop.

Alex Wood departed Sunday's start against the Nationals with an apparent injury.

Wood was warming up prior to the bottom of the seventh inning and called the trainer out. He walked off the field after a brief conversation. Wood has dealt with cramping recently and it was a hot day in Washington, D.C., so perhaps that's all this is. The Dodgers should update his status soon.

Khris Davis exited Sunday's game against the Blue Jays with a right groin strain.

Davis pulled up while running to first base in the fourth inning and went directly into the clubhouse. We'll have to see what the A's say after the game, but it certainly seems like something that could send him to the disabled list.

Athletics claimed RHP Carlos Ramirez off waivers from the Blue Jays.

Ramirez had been designated for assignment a week ago. He'll provide relief depth for Oakland.

Astros recalled INF J.D. Davis from Triple-A Fresno.

Davis struggled in his brief time with the Astros last month but then batted a ridiculous .415/.473/.654 over 130 at-bats for Fresno. With Evan Gattis struggling, Davis might get an opportunity to show what he can do in the designated hitter spot.
May 20 - 2:41 PM

Astros placed OF Derek Fisher on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19, with gastrointestinal discomfort.

He should be ready when his 10 days are up, although given his struggles it might not be a given that he's added back to the major league roster.
May 20 - 2:39 PM

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Greg Bird (ankle) could be activated from the disabled list sometime this week.

Bird is hitting only .174/.387/.304 over his first eight rehab games, but he has hit a home run and the most important thing is he's feeling healthy. He will play his first rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Since we're not sure what day Bird might return, he's probably too risky to be started in weekly leagues, but it does appear the slugger's season debut is imminent following March ankle surgery.
