Bears waived WR Chris Williams and LB DeDe Lattimore.

Williams spent 2013 on the Saints' practice squad after starring for two years in the Canadian Football League. Lattimore is a candidate for the Bears' practice squad.
Aug 30 - 11:21 AM

Patriots waived WR Josh Boyce.

Boyce fell behind Kenbrell Thompkins a year ago and never gained ground. The Patriots will likely try to sneak their 2013 fourth-rounder onto the practice squad, but he's a candidate to get claimed. Boyce ran a 4.38 and posted an explosive 10-foot-11 broad jump at his Combine.
Aug 30 - 11:15 AM

The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe reports suspended WR Brian Tyms will remain with the Patriots during his four-game ban.

It was a no-brainer move for the Pats. Tyms will not count against New England's roster during his four-game suspension, and was stellar this preseason, grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 1 wide receiver. Tyms will battle for snaps at the bottom of New England's wide receiver depth chart when he returns.

Free agent OLB James Harrison has retired from the NFL after 12 seasons.

Harrison's play really fell off the past couple years, but he was one of the most feared pass rushers of the past decade. A former UDFA out of Kent State, Harrison registered 66 career sacks and 29 forced fumbles. He was the heart and soul of the Steelers defenses of the late 2000s. Harrison, 36, is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time first-team All-Pro. Harrison will likely ink a one-day contract with the Steelers after spending the first 11 years of his career in Pittsburgh before joining Cincinnati in 2013. He'll likely fall short of the Hall of Fame, but should land in the Steelers' Ring of Honor.
Aug 30 - 11:13 AM

Jets released RB Daryl Richardson.

Richardson opened 2013 as the starter in St. Louis, but cannot survive final cuts this time around. Only 24, Richardson should get some looks from running back needy teams. Richardson's release means Bilal Powell has made the roster.
Aug 30 - 11:06 AM

Bucs waived QB Mike Kafka.

The Bucs were never going to keep a third quarterback behind Josh McCown and Mike Glennon. Kafka gave them no reason to by completing just 40.6 percent of his passes this preseason for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Aug 30 - 11:02 AM

Bucs waived RB/KR Jeff Demps.

Demps (5-foot-8, 191) is too small to play running back and didn't make enough of an impact in the return game this preseason to keep a roster spot. The Olympic sprinter is the fastest man in the NFL, but he only plays special teams.
Aug 30 - 10:57 AM

Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman and CB Kayvon Webster were treated for an illness at a Dallas hospital following the team's final preseason game Thursday night.

The Broncos did not disclose the nature of the illness. Webster had to be helped from the locker room, and ended up spending the night at the hospital. Both are expected to be ready for the team's first regular-season practice Monday. Hillman should open the season as the No. 2 back in Denver.
