Chad Kuhl will pitch the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Kuhl was scheduled to start Tuesday night, but the game got postponed due to inclement weather around Pittsburgh's PNC Park. Jameson Taillon will work the first game Wednesday against Tigers right-hander Jordan Zimmermann, with Kuhl facing off against lefty Matt Boyd in the nightcap.

Tyler Chatwood was wild again with five walks but managed to hold the Indians to one run across six frames in Tuesday’s 10-3 win.

Chatwood as now issued a whopping 19 walks over 21 2/3 innings this season. He’s somehow managed to give up two runs or fewer in three of four outings despite all the free passes, but he’s not going to be able to sustain this pace. Chatwood takes on the Brewers at Wrigley on Sunday.

Josh Tomlin was rocked for four home runs and five runs over just 3 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Cubs.

It was rainy and cold in Cleveland, but that didn’t stop the Cubs from teeing off on Tomlin. Kyle Schwarber took him deep twice and Willson Contreras and Ian Happ each got him once. Tomlin has now served up four dingers in two of his three starts this season and holds a 9.24 ERA. Danny Salazar (shoulder) and Ryan Merritt (shoulder) are both hurt, which should buy Tomlin time to try to figure things out. He gets the Mariners at home Sunday.

Willson Contreras socked his first home run of the year in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

It really should only count as half of a home run since it came off of Josh Tomlin, but Contreras will take it as he gets off the schneid. The Cubs belted four dingers in this one, with Ian Happ also hitting one and Kyle Schwarber slugging a pair in addition to Contreras.

Kyle Schwarber punished a pair of solo home runs Tuesday in Cleveland.

Schwarber took Josh Tomlin deep in the second inning and again in the fourth. The young left-handed swinger is up to six longballs on the season after the two-homer night, and his batting line is up to .302/.413/.635. It's quite a different start than the one he got off to last year.

Christian Villanueva (hamstring) likely won't return to the Padres' starting lineup before Friday.

Villanueva was scratched from the Padres' lineup Monday with a sore hamstring and he's not playing Tuesday either. "We just want to make sure he gets this behind him," manager Andy Green said Tuesday evening. "Then it probably leads to the question: If we don't play him tonight, is it even smart to play him tomorrow, because we get the off-day (Thursday) as well? Probably better judgement would prevail, and we'll see him in the lineup again on Friday."
Apr 24 - 9:19 PM

Ian Kennedy was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Brewers after getting hit in the leg by a line drive in the top of the third inning.

Kennedy held the Brewers scoreless in the first and second innings, but he was charged with four earned runs in an ugly third. Burch Smith took over in the top of the fourth. There should be a status update soon on Kennedy, who failed to strike out a batter Tuesday for the first time in 273 career major league appearances.
Apr 24 - 9:15 PM

Jose Ramirez reached base four times in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs.

The Indians' offense didn't get much done in this one, but Ramirez and Bradley Zimmer both tallied three-hit games. After an awful first couple weeks while the Indians were battling freezing temperatures, Ramirez is now batting .413 with six home runs over his last 12 contests.
