Cubs prospect C/OF Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBI on Tuesday for High-A Daytona.

After breezing through the Short Season and Low-A levels to begin his professional career, Schwarber, the No. 4 overall pick in this year's draft, has come back to earth at Daytona, where he's batting .265/.387/.408 with three extra-base hits through 14 games. The left-handed hitter's home run Tuesday was his 10th of the season and first since July 18. Between all three stops, Schwarber is batting .362/.451/.638 with 10 home runs, 10 doubles, 35 RBI and a 29-23 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 42 games.

Cubs prospect 3B Kris Bryant went 2-for-4 with a home run on Tuesday for Triple-A Iowa.

The home run was Bryant's 34th of the season and first since July 18. The 22-year-old slugger has cooled off this month, at least by his standards, with a .297/.390/.571 batting line and six home runs through 26 games. In June, Bryant hit six home runs in 12 games. Overall, he's batting .339/.437/.682 with 34 home runs, 30 doubles, 88 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 106 games between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Red Sox are asking for teams' best prospects in trade talks for Andrew Miller.

As Crasnick notes, they'll surely have to drop their demands in order to get anything done. Miller is having a fantastic season, posting a 2.40 ERA and 66/13 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings, but clubs aren't going to surrender top talent for him. The Braves, Pirates and Royals have all been connected to the lefty reliever.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Twins "really want to move" Josh Willingham, but a competing executive said he doesn't think "they're getting any bites."

The Mariners and Yankees have both been connected to Willingham, but it appears their interest might not be very strong. Willingham has 10 homers in 57 games this season but is batting just .219/.361/.421 overall. He's a free agent after the season, so the Twins would love to get something for him now while they can.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Dodgers are interested in Joaquin Benoit, but the Padres "would prefer not to trade him within division, if they trade him at all."

It's a little silly, given that San Diego is unlikely to contend before Benoit's contract expires. The 37-year-old has taken over as closer for the Padres following the trade of Huston Street and is under contract for $8 million next season and has an $8 million vesting option for 2016.

Evan Reed has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault as a result of an incident that occurred on March 30 in a Motor City Casino hotel room.

Each charge carries a prison term of up to 15 years if Reed is convicted. Reed allegedly met a 45-year-old woman at a bar that night before taking her back to his room and assaulting her. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said that he has interview numerous witnesses and also reviewed surveillance footage before the charges were brought. Reed, who is currently at Triple-A Toledo, is expected to turn himself into the authorities.

MLB.com's Peter Gammons reports that the Athletics and Giants are "sifting through" potential options at second base, including Luis Valbuena, Asdrubal Cabrera, Aaron Hill, Martin Prado and Gordon Beckham.

With Chase Utley not expected to be traded, the above group is the best of the lot for contenders looking to upgrade at second base. Of the five, only Hill and Beckham list second as their main position. However, all have plenty of experience at the keystone. The D'Backs appear much more willing to deal Hill than Prado.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Royals have "backed off" Jonny Gomes.

The concern is that Gomes is limited to left field or the designated hitter spot, while the Royals are looking for someone who can play right field. Josh Willingham is also not a fit with Kansas City for the same reason. Gomes is making $5 million and will be a free agent after the season.
