Brian McCann went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, helping the Yankees edge the Rays on Monday.

Cann slugged a round-tripper off of Brandon Gomes in the sixth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie. It proved to be the deciding run. McCann has been rather quiet offensively, as he's hitting just .250/.299/.417 with two home runs and nine RBI following Monday's game. 21 of the 25 home runs he has hit since signing with the Yankees have come at home, taking advantage of the short porch in right field.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons revealed after Monday's loss to the Red Sox that he would have used Brett Cecil as his closer had an opportunity arisen.

Miguel Castro has struggled lately, as he's been scored upon in four out of his last five appearances and blown two save chances over that stretch. The 20-year-old took the loss on Monday, retiring just one of the four batters he faced. Cecil has been worse this season with a 7.20 ERA, but it appears that, at the very least, the two might be in a committee at closer at this point. "Ideally, we'll get some defined roles," Gibbons said. "Right now it's really just kind of a crap shoot but we need to settle in and run with it and live with the results, is really the way we need to start approaching it." Needless to say, it's a less than ideal situation for fantasy owners.

Corey Kluber fell to 0-3 after surrendering six runs (four earned) in 6 1/3 innings in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Royals.

Kluber, for his second start in a row, allowed double-digit hits. The Royals eked out single runs in the second, third, and sixth innings before rallying for a three-run frame in the seventh to chase him from the game. Along with the 10 hits, Kluber walked two and struck out five. The defending AL Cy Young Award winner has a 4.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 36/7 K/BB ratio in 34 innings. Kluber will vie for his first win of the season after the calendar turns to May when he opposes the Blue Jays at home.

Jason Vargas picked up his second win of the season on Monday, limiting the Indians to two runs over five innings.

Vargas walked five and only struck out one batter, but was able to limit the damage the Indians could do, allowing only three hits. Both runs came in the lefty's final frame, as Mike Aviles took him out to left field for a two-run home run. It was an odd outing as walks aren't normally an issue for Vargas and hits usually are. He'll bring a 5.95 ERA, a 1.77 WHIP, and a 9/8 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings into a weekend start at home against the Tigers.

Jarrod Dyson swiped three bases in a 1-for-4 performance as the Royals topped the Twins on Monday.

Dyson reached base on a fielder's choice in the second inning, then promptly stole both second and third base. He reached again in the seventh inning on a single, then advanced to second base on a ground out before swiping third base. He eventually scored a run. Though those were his first three steals of the season, it's nothing new for Dyson. In 993 career plate appearances entering the game, Dyson was 120-for-140 in stolen bases. He's started two games in a row but Paulo Orlando has seen the lion's share of the playing time since Alex Rios went down with a hand injury, which hampers his fantasy appeal.

Mike Aviles provided the Indians their only two runs with a home run in Monday's loss to the Royals.

Aviles hit a two-run home run off of Jason Vargas in the fifth inning to knot the game at 2-2. He finished 1-for-2 with a pair of walks along with the round-tripper. Aviles is batting .257/.366/.457 with two home runs and three RBI on the season but has come to the plate only 41 times. Despite his multi-position eligibility, Aviles doesn't have much fantasy value with his irregular playing time.

Mike Moustakas enjoyed a four-hit night in Monday's win over the Indians.

Moustakas came to the plate five times, singling twice and doubling once. His seventh-inning RBI single provided the Royals an insurance run and sparked what turned out to be a three-run inning. The 26-year-old has posted subpar numbers since entering the league in 2011, but has hit quite well to begin the season. He's batting .342/.419/.526 with three home runs and seven RBI.

Devon Travis clubbed his sixth home run of the season, but the Blue Jays lost 6-5 to the Red Sox on Monday.

Travis finished 2-for-4 with a first-inning RBI single along with the home run. The second baseman took Red Sox starter Joe Kelly yard in the third inning, continuing what has been a very impressive first month for the rookie. Along with the six home runs, Travis is hitting .368/.419/.721 with 18 RBI.
