Orioles sent OF Julio Borbon outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization. Borbon was 2-for-9 in his short stay at the major league level.

Reynaldo Lopez is considered the most likely to start for the Nationals on Saturday versus the Giants.

Lucas Giolito is also an option, although he can't be recalled unless he replaces an injured player. Lopez struck out nine over 4 2/3 innings in his major league debut earlier this month but allowed six runs on 10 hits. He'd be a risky streaming option.

Justin Bour (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A New Orleans on Friday.

Bour has been out of commission nearly all month with a sprained ankle but is finally ready for game action again. He should be activated early next week if all goes well.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Brewers asked teams interested in Jonathan Lucroy on Thursday "to make offers that met minimum standard."

Rosenthal notes that the Mets are among the clubs that have made an offer. It's been previously reported that they offered Travis d'Arnaud for Lucroy straight up and were turned down, but it's unclear how their offer might have changed. Rosenthal notes that the Brewers are evaluating multiple offers for Lucroy. The Indians are another club known to be in the mix.

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Nationals are willing to trade Lucas Giolito for Andrew Miller straight up.

However, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports says that the Yankees would not do a Miller-for-Giolito one-for-one deal. Giolito's three starts for the Nats have been up and down, but he's still viewed as one of the best pitching prospects in the game and the Yankees would have control of him for many years. Still, it sounds like they'd want even more for Miller, who is owed $9 million in 2017 and 2018.

Padres acquired RHP Luis Castillo from the Marlins in the Andrew Cashner trade.

Castillo is probably the least well known name in the trade but has loads of upside. The 23-year-old holds a 2.25 ERA and 84/15 K/BB ratio over 100 High-A innings this season and has reached triple digits with his fastball. He's a nice get for the Padres.
Jul 29 - 1:40 PM

Padres acquired 1B Josh Naylor from the Marlins in the Andrew Cashner trade.

Naylor was ranked by Baseball America in their midseason update as the No. 100 prospect in baseball. The No. 12 overall pick last year, he's batted .269/.317/.430 with nine homers and 10 steals at Low-A this season. Naylor's bat will have to carry him, as he can't play anywhere other than first base, but he has big raw power.

Padres acquired RHP Carter Capps from the Marlins in the Andrew Cashner trade.

Capps is making his way back from Tommy John surgery and might not be ready for the start of next season. He's been a dominant relief arm when healthy, though, posting a 1.16 ERA and 58/7 K/BB ratio over 31 innings last season. If he can stay off the DL, the Padres have a potential closer option in Capps.
