Royals manager Ned Yost said Friday that when Chris Young (forearm) returns from the disabled list, it will be as a reliever.

He could be activated as soon as this weekend. Yost did at that he expects Young to eventually rejoin the rotation, but for now he'll be used in long relief.

Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) will be activated from the disabled list to make his season debut on Tuesday in Baltimore.

Clay Buchholz is headed to the bullpen. Rodriguez had a mini-setback with his right knee last week, but he returned to throw seven innings of one-run ball for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday. Fantasy owners should probably give him a start or two to get his feet wet.
May 27 - 5:15 PM

Red Sox manager John Farrell announced Friday that Clay Buchholz has been moved to the bullpen.

Buchholz was tagged for six runs on Thursday in another poor showing that pushed his ERA up to 6.35, so the move comes as no surprise. Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) will come off the disabled list to start in his place on Tuesday. Buchholz should get another shot in the Red Sox' rotation eventually, but for now he'll be used in long relief.

Brandon Belt (ankle) remained out of the Giants' lineup Friday.

Belt hasn't played since spraining his left ankle on a slide Wednesday. He's considered day-to-day. The Giants have Buster Posey at first base and Trevor Brown at catcher Friday.
May 27 - 5:10 PM

Hunter Pence (hamstring) remained out of the Giants' lineup Friday.

Pence has been limited to a couple pinch-hitting opportunities over the last week due to a sore right hamstring. Jarrett Parker is filling in in right field.
May 27 - 5:07 PM

Troy Tulowitzki (quad) is back in the Blue Jays' lineup Friday.

Tulo missed the last two games with a sore right quad, but he's ready to go now. He's at shortstop and batting fifth versus Joe Kelly and the Red Sox.
May 27 - 4:51 PM

Scooter Gennett is not in the Brewers' lineup Friday.

He'll get a day off against lefty John Lamb. The Brewers are going with Aaron Hill at second base and Hernan Perez at third base.
May 27 - 4:40 PM

Robinson Chirinos (forearm) is ready to begin a rehab assignment.

It's unclear where or when exactly it will begin, but the good news is Chirinos is game-ready. He's hoping to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on June 9.
