Terrance West rushed nine times for 35 yards and caught a 16-yard pass in the Browns' preseason finale.

Isaiah Crowell (rest) and Duke Johnson (concussion) did not play, and after the game coach Mike Pettine announced Crowell has the "edge" to start in Week 1 against the Jets. West has remained up-and-down in his second NFL preseason. He will probably mix in behind Crowell until Johnson gets healthy.

Browns coach Mike Pettine said Isaiah Crowell has the edge over Terrance West for the starting running back job.

Neither player has had a particularly exciting preseason, but Crowell is the more talented runner with the higher ceiling. Both players should get carries against the Jets Week 1, and Duke Johnson (concussion) will be in the mix as well once he returns. This backfield will once again be difficult to project week to week.

Chiefs rookie Chris Conley caught three balls for 38 yards and a touchdown in Thursday night's preseason finale.

Conley's touchdown came from 15 yards out on a skinny post, with Chase Daniel executing a pretty throw against zone coverage. Although straight-linish, Conley has big-play potential and should earn more and more looks with the first team as the Chiefs' season moves forward. He's a clear and present threat to Albert Wilson's starting job across from Jeremy Maclin.

Dwayne Bowe played into the third quarter of Thursday's preseason finale, catching 1-of-2 targets for eight yards.

The grab was Bowe's lone catch of the summer. Despite the fact that Bowe missed Cleveland's first two preseason games with a hamstring injury, it's extremely bizarre for a nine-year veteran — one who received $9.5 million guaranteed in March — to play into the third quarter of the final preseason game. It lends some credence to the scuttlebutt that Bowe's roster is in danger, though Browns in-house analyst Nathan Zegura has insisted that's not the case. What is the case is that Bowe isn't going to be a fantasy option catching passes from Josh McCown.

Andre Williams rushed eight times for 28 yards in Thursday’s preseason game against the Patriots.

Williams was targeted once but couldn’t reel in the catch. The Boston College product has followed up a lackluster rookie year with a similarly unproductive preseason (15 carries for 39 yards). He’s a plodder but Williams’ 230-pound frame could earn him some goal-line work this year. That should be enough to make him a late-round flyer.

Aaron Dobson reeled in four catches for 56 yards in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Giants.

His biggest play came on a 24-yard slant in the second quarter. The third-year wideout has home run potential and can really stretch the field, but injuries and inconsistency have held him back. Dobson should have no trouble securing a roster spot, but it’s unlikely he’ll play enough to warrant fantasy consideration.

The Redskins confirm Robert Griffin III (concussion) could be cleared to return as early as Friday.

When/if RGIII gains final clearance is when the real drama will begin. Once deemed healthy, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2012 draft can be waived. It remains a mystery why the team originally said Griffin had been cleared last week only to back track, but so is life in Daniel Snyder's Washington.

Geremy Davis led the Giants with 65 yards on three catches in Thursday’s preseason game against the Patriots.

He broke free for a 40-yard catch down the sideline early in the second quarter. It was New York’s longest gain of the night. Davis needed a big game after being shut out in his first three preseason contests. Thursday's outing may have won him a roster spot. Most of Davis' snaps will come on special teams if he makes the team.
