Mike Carp has requested to be traded.

Carp was a strong bench player for the Red Sox last year, but this season he has a weak batting line of .215/.337/.304 in 79 plate appearances. He feels he could be more productive somewhere else and the Boston front office seems poised to sell some pieces at the deadline.

Dan Johnson homered and drove home four runs on Saturday, powering the Blue Jays to a 6-4 victory over the Yankees in New York.

Johnson broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single off Shawn Kelley in the seventh inning, then provided much needed insurance with a three-run blast off Jeff Francis in the ninth. With Adam Lind hopeful to return next week, Johnson's brief run of fantasy usefulness may be coming to an end shortly.
Jul 26 - 4:39 PM

Dioner Navarro went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored, helping to lead the Blue Jays in Saturday's victory over the Yankees.

Navarro has been seeing time out of the cleanup spot in the Jays lineup as of late, leading to increased RBI chances. In his first season as a Blue Jay, he is hitting .271/.312/.385 with seven homers and 41 RBI in 314 at-bats.
Jul 26 - 4:37 PM

Drew Hutchison delivered a strong start in Saturday’s victory over the Yankees, allowing just two runs on five hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Hutchison racked up seven strikeouts while issuing just three walks in the game. The only blemish on his day was a two-run homer off the bat of Brian McCann in the fourth inning. The rookie right-hander now owns a 4.44 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 109/41 K/BB ratio over his 119 2/3 innings on the year. He’ll look to carry over this strong start when he takes on the Astros in Houston on Thursday.
Jul 26 - 4:35 PM

Carlos Beltran had a nice day at the dish in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jays, going 2-for-3 including a two-run homer.

Beltran's two-run bomb came off Casey Janssen in the ninth inning. He was also hit by a pitch in the ballgame and scored a pair of runs. The veteran outfielder is hitting a disappointing .227/.284/.428 with 12 homers and 34 RBI in his first season with the Yankees.
Jul 26 - 4:35 PM

Brian McCann blasted his 11th home run of the season in a losing effort against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

McCann got the scoring started with a two-run blast off Drew Hutchison in the fourth inning. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now slashing .243/.296/.382 with 44 RBI in his first season in the Bronx.
Jul 26 - 4:33 PM

Chris Capuano pitched well in his Yankees debut on Saturday, surrendering a pair of runs on five hits over six innings in a no-decision.

The veteran left-hander punched out four on the afternoon while walking four. All of the damage against him came in the fifth inning where Melky Cabrera delivered an RBI double and scored on a sacrifice fly. His flyball tendencies won’t play well in his new home park, but he should be able to generate fantasy value with his ability to miss bats. He’ll take on the Red Sox in Boston on Friday.

Daisuke Matsuzaka does not need elbow surgery.

But he's not quite out of the woods yet. Matsuzaka was placed on the disabled list Saturday with elbow inflammation and won't pick up a baseball for another 7-10 days. It's possible he won't make it back this year.
