Pirates recalled LHP Steven Brault from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Brault has posted a nifty 1.94 ERA and 109/44 K/BB ratio over 120 1/3 innings for Indy this season. He'll work in long relief for now.

Pirates placed LHP Wade LeBlanc on the 10-day disabled list with a left quad strain.

LeBlanc must have been injured during Thursday's appearance versus the Cardinals when he allowed four runs. Steven Brault has taken his spot in the bullpen.

Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch writes that the concern with Trevor Rosenthal (elbow) centers around "the stability of his ligament, and surgery is option."

The level of damage in Rosenthal's ulnar collateral ligament isn't known at this point, but obviously Tommy John surgery would be the worst-case scenario. He's already received one opinion but will get a second before a decision on the next course of action is made. Seung Hwan Oh is back in the closer role for the Cards with Rosenthal sidelined.

Salvador Perez (intercostal) will resume taking batting practice this weekend and could be activated for next week's series versus the Rockies that begins Tuesday.

Perez has slowly ramped up his workouts this week and hasn't experienced any setbacks with his strained right intercostal muscle. He will not require a rehab assignment before returning, so if batting practice goes well this weekend he'll be ready to roll.

Indians placed OF Abraham Almonte on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

He suffered the injury during Thursday's doubleheader versus the Twins. It's unclear how long Almonte will be out.

Indians activated LHP Andrew Miller from the 10-day disabled list.

Miller has missed nearly all of August with patella tendinitis in his right knee, but he made a rehab appearance with no issues and is ready to go. He'll return to a setup role ahead of Cody Allen.

Cameron Maybin is not in the Angels' lineup Friday due to right knee soreness.

It's the same knee that sent him to the disabled list last month and has now cost him two straight starts. Consider Maybin day-to-day for now. Ben Revere is in left field and in the leadoff spot.

Dietrich Enns (shoulder) has been given a pain-killing injection.

Enns was placed on the disabled list Thursday with left shoulder inflammation and he also had a shoulder issue earlier this season in the minors. He could be an option for some starts next month if he recovers well.
