Nick Tepesch has been pushed back in the rotation.

Meaning he won't make his scheduled start in the Rangers' three-game series against the Indians. Tepesch left his outing Saturday against the A's with soreness in his left knee. It's not a major concern.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Bo Schultz from Triple-A Reno.

Schultz nearly made the Diamondbacks' bullpen out of spring training with a strong showing in the Cactus League. But the 28-year-old has struggled this season at Triple-A, posting a 5.75 ERA in 117 1/3 innings. He will pitch in low-leverage situations for Arizona.

Diamondbacks optioned OF Alfredo Marte to Triple-A Reno.

Marte has hit .258 with a .710 OPS in 16 games this season for the Snakes. The 25-year-old outfielder will likely get another look before the summer is over.

Chris Davis is out Tuesday because of an illness.

Davis should be fine after a day or two of rest. Steve Pearce is at first base and Delmon Young is serving as the Orioles' DH on Tuesday night versus the Angels.

Mike Napoli has some swelling in one of his fingers.

It's the reason he's out of the Red Sox starting lineup for the second time in three games. Mike Carp, who's thought to be available via trade, is starting at first base for Boston on Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Matt Guerrier has elected to become a free agent.

Guerrier was pushed off the Twins' 40-man roster on July 23 and refused an assignment to Triple-A Rochester after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 35-year-old right-hander will try to find a spot in a major league bullpen. He had a 3.86 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 12/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings of relief for Minnesota.

Padres activated SS Everth Cabrera from the 15-day disabled list.

Cabrera wound up missing close to four weeks with a left hamstring strain. The speedy shortstop has posted a hideous .218/.256/.290 batting line in 80 games this year and he's just 13-for-20 in stolen base attempts.
Jul 29 - 4:10 PM

Padres designated LHP Jason Lane for assignment.

Lane tossed six-plus innings of one-run ball in his first major league start Monday afternoon against the Braves, but he didn't figure into the San Diego rotation going forward. The former outfielder could draw interest on waivers as a left-handed reliever.
