Zack Godley will start for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday against the Padres.
The rest of the Arizona rotation will shift back one day. Godley is filling in for Shelby Miller, who could be out for a while with a right elbow injury. Godley was off to a nice start this year with Triple-A Reno but probably won't work too well as a streaming option.
Tuesday night's game between the Marlins and Phillies has been postponed due to rain.
It's the third postponement of the night in the Northeast. Vince Velasquez was scheduled to start at home for the Phillies against left-hander Wei-Yin Chen of the Marlins. Velasquez will start on Wednesday against Miami with Nick Pivetta's major league debut getting pushed to the weekend.
Aaron Sanchez (finger) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday without issue.
Sanchez used all of his pitches and drew positive reviews from the Blue Jays' coaching staff. The young right-hander needed surgery on April 18 to remove part of the nail on his right middle finger, but it sounds like he won't be out much longer. Look for a more detailed timetable by this weekend.
Brandon Belt is getting the night off Tuesday against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw.
Christian Arroyo will start at third base and bat second with Buster Posey at first base and batting cleanup. Nick Hundley is catching Giants left-hander Ty Blach.
Ryan Schimpf is out of the Padres' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks.
Ryan Spangenberg is at third base and batting second with Yangervis Solarte starting at second base and hitting cleanup. Schimpf is just 6-for-59 (.102) this season, though he has slugged three home runs.
Jake Lamb is getting the night off Tuesday.
Daniel Descalso will start at third base and bat sixth Tuesday night against Padres left-hander Clayton Richard.
Athletics recalled OF Ryan LaMarre from Triple-A Nashville.
LaMarre was acquired from the Angels last week for cash considerations. The 28-year-old outfielder is 2-for-30 (.067) in his career at the major league level.
Athletics recalled RHP Cesar Valdez from Triple-A Nashville.
Valdez gave up three runs over four innings last Thursday in a spot start against the Mariners. It looks like he'll be used as a long man out of the bullpen this time around.
