A.J. Pierzynski (oblique) is expected to return to the Rangers' active roster on Tuesday.

Pierzynski played in rehab games on Sunday and Monday and reported feeling fine. The 36-year-old catcher has been out since May 5 with a strained right oblique. He was batting .263/.297/.411 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 26 games before hitting the shelf.

Brett Myers (elbow) will make his second minor league rehab start on Wednesday at Double-A Akron.

Myers threw 33 pitches last week in his first rehab start and will probably try to top 50 pitches on Wednesday. He'll make at least one more start in the minors after that before being considered for activation. The right-hander is attempting to pitch through a UCL tear.

Marlins purchased the contract of 1B/OF Jordan Brown from Triple-A New Orleans.

Brown was sporting a weak .261/.305/.336 batting line at the Triple-A level. He will not carry any fantasy value.
May 20 - 2:20 PM

Marlins placed OF Matt Diaz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19, with a left knee contusion.

Diaz should be ready to return to the active roster as soon as he's eligible. The 35-year-old is batting just .167/.211/.222 in 10 games this season with the Marlins.

Mets signed RHP David Aardsma to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Aardsma had been in negotiations with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan's Central League but ultimately decided to remain in the United States. The 31-year-old right-hander will try to work his way up to New York this season. He has made one appearance in the major leagues since the start of the 2010 campaign due to Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.
May 20 - 2:07 PM

Lou Marson (shoulder) admitted Monday that there is no timetable for his return to the Indians' active roster.

Marson has begun throwing but is not yet performing any other baseball activities due to lingering soreness in his shoulder and neck. "It's definitely frustrating," the catcher told MLB.com. "I know what it is and kind of what I have to do. Hopefully, I can get on the field soon."
May 20 - 1:43 PM

Colby Lewis (elbow) acknowledged on Monday afternoon that he's unhappy with his fastball velocity.

Lewis was sitting around 85-86 mph in his rehab start Monday at Double-A Frisco and wants to be closer to 89-91 mph by the time he returns to the major leagues. The hope had been that he would be ready to rock during the first week of June, but a more realistic timetable calls for him to be activated near the middle of the month. Lewis is on his way back from major right elbow surgery.
May 20 - 1:19 PM

Colby Lewis (elbow) allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings Monday in a rehab start with Double-A Frisco.

Lewis yielded four hits but he did not walk a batter and struck out three. The right-hander threw 47 pitches -- 33 of which were strikes -- and will probably aim to make it past 60 in his next rehab outing. If everything continues to go smoothly, Lewis should be ready to join the Rangers' starting rotation during the first week of June.
