Yankees manager Joe Girardi indicated that he expects Alex Rodriguez (hamstring) to be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.

Rodriguez will play in his second rehab game with Double-A Trenton on Wednesday, then onward to the major league club on Thursday (barring a setback). He has been on the disabled list with a hamstring strain since May 4.

Jeurys Familia picked up his 16th save of the season Wednesday afternoon against the Nationals.

Familia worked around a pair of singles to preserve the Mets' two-run lead. The 26-year-old closer has a 2.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 18/4 K/BB ratio in 22 1/3 innings this season. He struck out one on Wednesday.
May 25 - 4:05 PM

Tanner Roark held the Mets to two runs -- one earned -- over seven innings but took a loss on Wednesday.

Roark got zero run support from the Nationals offense, falling to 3-4 on the year. He does have a 2.71 ERA in 63 innings (10 starts) this season, and he's whiffed 58 batters in 63 innings. The right-hander will hope for better luck next time out against the Phillies.
May 25 - 4:03 PM

Rockies activated RHP Jason Motte from the 15-day disabled list.

Motte will finally join the Colorado bullpen on Wednesday after missing the first eight weeks of the season with a shoulder strain. He had a 3.18 ERA and five strikeouts in 5 2/3 minor league rehab innings.
May 25 - 4:00 PM

Rockies placed LHP Boone Logan on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation.

Shoulder injuries are always tricky, so it's not worth guessing how long he might be out. Jason Motte has been activated in a corresponding move and will take over the vacant spot in the Rockies' bullpen.
May 25 - 3:58 PM

Mark Teixeira is out of the Yankees' starting lineup on Wednesday with renewed neck discomfort.

He has three homers in nine career at-bats against the Blue Jays' starter, Marco Estrada, so it's a big absence. Teixeira is considered day-to-day for now.
May 25 - 3:56 PM

Alex Rodriguez (hamstring) will play another rehab game with Double-A Trenton on Wednesday.

And then he should be activated on Thursday. A-Rod went 2-for-4 with two singles and an RBI in his rehab debut Tuesday at the Double-A level. He's been on the disabled list since May 4 with a hamstring strain.
May 25 - 3:54 PM

Steven Matz worked eight scoreless innings Wednesday in the Mets' 2-0 defeat of the Nationals.

Matz carved his way through the Bryce Harper-less lineup in Washington, yielding just four hits and a walk while striking out seven. He did actually face Harper in a pinch-hit situation in the bottom of the eighth and got him to ground out. Matz, 24, boasts a 7-1 record, 2.36 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 50/9 K/BB ratio in 49 2/3 innings (eight starts) this season. He'll look to stay ace-like next time out against the White Sox.
