Giants recalled LHP Josh Osich from Triple-A Sacramento.

Osich will be available out of the Giants' bullpen on Tuesday night against the Astros. He has allowed nine runs in 10 innings this season at the MLB level.
May 22 - 4:12 PM

Giants placed RHP Jose Valdez on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

Valdez had allowed seven earned runs in five innings since his promotion from Triple-A Sacramento on May 10. Josh Osich will take his spot in the Giants' bullpen.
May 22 - 4:11 PM

Delino DeShields is out of the Rangers' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Yankees.

DeShields is batting just .095 with a .383 OPS over his last 51 plate appearances. Ryan Rua will start in center field and hit ninth Tuesday versus Yankees right-hander Domingo German.
May 22 - 4:09 PM

Madison Bumgarner (finger) threw a successful simulated game on Tuesday.

As long as he responds well to the workout, the ace left-hander should be cleared to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento. He's expected to make around three rehab starts before joining the Giants' rotation around the middle of June. Bumgarner has been out all year with a fractured left pinkie.
May 22 - 4:06 PM

Anthony Swarzak (oblique) is close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment, per manager Mickey Callaway.

Swarzak landed on the disabled list since April 1 with a strained left oblique and suffered a setback a few weeks later, but he's on the right track now. The 32-year-old setup man signed a two-year, $14 million free agent contract with the Mets this winter after posting a strong 2.33 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 91/22 K/BB ratio in 77 1/3 innings last season between the White Sox and Brewers. He should be ready to rock in about 10 days.
May 22 - 4:03 PM

Yangervis Solarte is not in the Blue Jays' starting lineup Tuesday against the Angels.

Solarte gets the night off in favor of Devon Travis, who was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday despite struggling with the bat himself. Solarte got off to a red-hot start, but he's fallen off over the past two weeks, and his line on the year is now down to .260/.327/.480 with 10 homers and 29 RBI over 45 games.
May 22 - 3:56 PM

Tyler O'Neill is starting in center field and will hit fifth against the Royals on Tuesday.

O'Neill gives Tommy Pham a night off. The 22-year-old rookie has been scorching with the bat since being recalled on Friday, and has three homers over his last three games to go along with a .583 average and six RBI in that time frame.
May 22 - 3:41 PM

Reds optioned INF/OF Rosell Herrera to Triple-A Louisville.

After being promoted by the Reds on April 26, Herrera hit just .154/.154/.154 over 13 at-bats in as many games.
