Phillies recalled RHP Phillippe Aumont from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Aumont has allowed four runs over 1 2/3 relief innings with the big club this season. The former top prospect still throws hard but control issues have kept him from reaching his potential.
Phillies designated RHP Jeff Manship for assignment.
Manship posted a 6.65 ERA over 20 relief appearances for the Phils. He shouldn't have trouble passing through waivers.
Phillies optioned C Cameron Rupp to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Rupp is no longer needed with Carlos Ruiz back from the DL. He had 11 hits in 58 at-bats while up with the big club.
Phillies activated C Carlos Ruiz from the 7-day concussion disabled list.
Ruiz wasn't supposed to be back until Friday, but the Phils decided to make the move a couple days early. The veteran backstop was been out since late June with post-concussion symptoms, but he got through five rehab games with no issues and is ready to go.
Jayson Werth is not in Wednesday's lineup due to soreness in his right knee.
It's an ailment Werth has been dealing with lately. The Nationals are hoping that the outfielder will be ready to play on Friday following Thursday's off day. Bryce Harper is in right field Wednesday, while Scott Hairston is covering left.
Twins prospect 2B/OF Eddie Rosario had a huge game Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double and four RBI for Double-A New Britain.
Rosario's season didn't begin until early June after serving a 50-game suspension for PEDs, and he subsequently struggled to get things going at the plate back in Double-A. However, the 22-year-old's bat has come alive in July, with a .295/.325/.577 batting line and 12 extra-base hits in 21 games. Since returning to Double-A, Rosario has played just 13 games at second base compared to 32 games in the outfield.
Nationals recalled INF Zach Walters from Triple-A Syracuse.
He's replacing Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) on the roster. Walters hit just .182 in a five-week stay with the Nats earlier this season. His playing time figures to be limited.
Nationals placed 3B Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
The Nationals are still awaiting MRI results before they determine how long the third baseman will be sidelined, but obviously they expect him to miss at least a couple weeks. Anthony Rendon will handle third base and Danny Espinosa will be at second while Zimmerman is on the shelf. Zach Walters is replacing Zimmerman on the roster.
