The Giants confirmed Friday that Madison Bumgarner is dealing with a Grad 2 shoulder sprain.

Tentatively, the Giants expect their star southpaw to return around the All-Star break. While the diagnosis hasn't changed, at least there now appears to be a clear timetable for his return to the Giants' rotation and fantasy owners can expect to have him back for the second half of the season, barring any setbacks.

Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts said Friday that the plan is to send Cody Bellinger back to Triple-A once Joc Pederson and Franklin Gutierrez return from the disabled list.

Of course, Bellinger could force their hand by tearing the cover off the ball during his brief audition in the big leagues. Even if he is sent down, it won't be long before he's a fixture in the Dodgers' lineup on a nightly basis.

Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Joc Pederson (groin) could return from the disabled list as early as next Friday.

While that date isn't set in stone, Pederson is making nice progress in his recovery from a strained groin. Cody Bellinger will have at least another week to audition for a full-time gig in the big leagues while Pederson is sidelined.

Hunter Renfroe is not in the Padres' starting lineup on Friday.

Just a regular day off for the 25-year-old outfielder. He's off to a slow start at the plate, slashing .239/.255/.435 with five homers, nine RBI and a 24/2 K/BB ratio. Jabari Blash is starting in right field while Cory Spangenberg starts in left against Jeff Samardzija and the Giants on Friday.

Daniel Mengden (foot) will throw live batting practice on Saturday.

The 24-year-old hurler continues to progress in his recovery from a broken foot. He's expected to be ready to rejoin the Athletics' rotation in late May.
Apr 28 - 7:05 PM

Sean Manaea (shoulder) is likely to have his next start pushed back.

It doesn't appear as though Manaea will be heading to the disabled list due to his shoulder tightness, but it doesn't look as though he'll be ready to take the ball on Tuesday. In that case, Sonny Gray would start on Tuesday with Kendall Graveman pitching on Wednesday for the A's.
Apr 28 - 6:51 PM

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup for Friday's showdown against the Padres.

It appears to be just a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting backstop. Nick Hundley is starting behind the plate while Mike Morse draws a start at first base and is hitting cleanup for the Giants on Friday.
Apr 28 - 6:46 PM

Brandon Phillips (groin) remains out of the Braves starting lineup on Friday.

Phillips was forced to leave Wednesday's game due to a strained left groin but is adamant that he won't require a trip to the disabled list. Braves' skipper Brian Snitker said he hopes to have Phillips back in there on Saturday.
