1 run in 11.2 innings since being called up this month. 23 years old, pitched great last night in SF.

Figured I'd start a thread for him. 2 bombs in his last two games. Tough to keep playing time in Baltimore though.

John Gast left in the second inning of his start Saturday against the Dodgers due to left shoulder tightness.

Gast's velocity was down from the first pitch, so it's not surprising to find out that he was dealing with an injury. If he has to make a trip to the disabled list, reliever Joe Kelly or last year's first-round pick Michael Wacha could be options to replace him in the rotation.

Angel Pagan hit a walkoff two-run inside-the-park homer in the 10th inning Saturday as the Giants marched back to defeat the Rockies by a score of 6-5.

The Giants trailed at two different points in the game but kept plugging away and finally broke through when Pagan launched a towering shot to "Triples Alley" at AT&T Park with one out in the bottom of the 10th. The ball bounced high off the wall and into center field, allowing Pagan to travel all the way around the diamond. It was a wild finish.

John Gast left Saturday's game against the Dodgers in the second inning due to an undisclosed injury.

The left-hander wasn't right from the outset, as his fastball was sitting 82-84 miles per hour with no command in the first inning. He was replaced by reliever Joe Kelly, who may take the open spot in the rotation should the injury force Gast to miss a start.
May 25 - 7:57 PM

Rafael Betancourt blew a save in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday as the Rockies fell to the Giants.

Betancourt issued a walk to Brandon Crawford and then a walkoff two-run inside-the-park homer to Angel Pagan. The veteran Rockies closer has been dealing with groin problems lately but an examination earlier this week by team doctors ruled out anything serious. He will probably be reevaluated for that groin issue on Sunday morning.

J.J. Putz (elbow) has been playing catch from 90 feet and doing strengthening exercises, Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Saturday.

There is still no timetable for a return, and the Diamondbacks will proceed with caution with their 36-year-old closer. But it's promising that Putz is back to throwing less than a month after there were reports he could need season-ending surgery to fix his elbow problems.
May 25 - 7:42 PM

Aroldis Chapman earned his 12th save of the season Saturday in the Reds' 5-2 defeat of the Cubs.

Chapman also got a save on Friday and has seemingly bounced back from the struggles he experienced earlier this month. The hard-throwing lefty has a 2.74 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39/10 K/BB ratio in 23 innings this season.
May 25 - 7:40 PM

Travis Wood surrendered five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday as the Cubs fell to the Reds.

Facing his former team, Wood yielded seven hits and three walks while throwing just 69 of his 115 pitches for strikes. It snapped a streak of nine straight quality starts for the left-hander. The regression could certainly continue in his next outing against the White Sox.
May 25 - 7:36 PM

Tyler Flowers was scratched from the White Sox lineup on Saturday due to back spasms.

The injury is likely just day-to-day, as Flowers has started the previous four games for the White Sox. Flowers is hitting .202/.269/.345 with four homers and 12 RBI.
