Jake Peavy (back) will make at least two more rehab starts.

Peavy was pummeled for six runs on nine hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings for Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday in his second rehab outing. He got his pitch count up to 76, but the Giants obviously want to see him sharper before he rejoins the rotation. Peavy has battled a back strain dating back to spring training.

Matt Moore (elbow) is expected to begin a rehab assignment next week.

Moore threw 46 pitches in three innings Thursday in his final appearance in extended spring training. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, the left-hander is looking at a return to the Rays in late June or early July, depending on how many rehab starts they decide he needs.

Ivan Nova (elbow) will make one more appearance in extended spring training next week before beginning a rehab assignment.

The right-hander threw 63 pitches in his sixth appearance in extended spring on Thursday. Making his way back from Tommy John surgery, Nova will need a handful of rehab starts but should be an option for the Yankees' rotation in late June or early July.

The Orioles haven't decided whether Bud Norris (bronchitis) will make another rehab start.

Norris allowed four runs in five innings on Wednesday for Double-A Bowie, but manager Buck Showalter said the righty pitched really well the first three frames. Mike Wright wasn't as good Thursday as he was his first two times out, which could potentially open the door for Norris rejoining the rotation next week.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia considers Erick Aybar (hamstring) day-to-day and doesn't think he'll require a disabled list stint.

Aybar was lifted from Thursday's game against the Tigers due to tightness in his left hamstring. He actually tried to talk his way into staying in, so it doesn't appear to be too serious. Scioscia said the club will be careful, though, so he figures to be out a few days. "He's as important as anyone on our team," the skipper said.

Jung Ho Kang hit a three-run homer as the Pirates topped the Padres 11-5 on Thursday.

He finished 1-for-5. Now riding a 10-game hitting streak, Kang is making it mighty difficult for Jordy Mercer to make an argument to regain at-bats. It's still early yet, but Kang's game has transitioned surprisingly smoothly stateside. He's hitting .308/.371/.462 with three steals, three homers and 17 RBI in 104 at-bats. Kang deserves to be owned in more leagues than he currently is.

Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI as the Pirates bested the Padres on Thursday.

McCutchen has finally woken up from his early-season slumber. He's had multi-hit games in five of his last eight, recording three in three of them. Hitting .188 as recently as May 6, McCutchen has his slash line up to .272/.364/.473. Expect it to keep rising.

A.J. Burnett allowed five runs -- four earned -- over 5 2/3 innings Thursday in an 11-5 win against the Padres.

He struck out six and walked two. Burnett wasn't sharp, but he didn't have to be facing off against an imploding Ian Kennedy. The 38-year-old has won five consecutive starts and is now 5-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 1.16 WHIP.
