The 49ers are expected to use their injured reserve/designated for return tag on NT Glenn Dorsey (torn biceps).

Dorsey tore his left biceps in early August, and the 49ers are hopeful he can make a late-season return. ILB Navorro Bowman (ACL, MCL) will open the year on the PUP list. The 49ers may view anything they get this year as a "bonus" from Dorsey. Their run defense will surely suffer without Dorsey and Bowman.

Dolphins waived TE Michael Egnew.

One of ex-GM Jeff Ireland's seemingly countless misfires, Egnew was exposed as a product of Mizzou's spread offense quickly after the Dolphins made him a top-80 pick in the 2012 draft. It's particularly telling that the new Fins regime saw more potential in Arthur Lynch, Gator Hoskins, and Brett Brackett.

NFL fined Saints TE Jimmy Graham $30,000 for dunking footballs over the goal posts.

Graham did this twice in the second week of preseason, which upset coach Sean Payton and obviously drew the ire of league brass. Graham has stated publicly he won't be dunking footballs over the goal posts anymore going forward.

NFL suspended Chiefs RT Donald Stephenson four games for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs.

Stephenson was a below-average starter to begin with, but it's still a big hit to an already shaky Kansas City line. LT Eric Fisher has been pulverized in preseason games after a rough rookie year, while the Chiefs' interior line isn't much better. In Zach Fulton, Kansas City has a sixth-round rookie penned in at right guard. Line-play differential is one reason to support LeSean McCoy over Jamaal Charles as the No. 1 overall pick in 2014 fantasy drafts.

Kam Wimbley and Derrick Morgan are expected to open the season as the Titans' starting outside linebackers.

Wimbley and Morgan have taken "virtually all" of the first-team reps, with Shaun Phillips and Akeem Ayers on the outside looking in. 30-year-old Wimbley received negative pass-rush marks from Pro Football Focus in 2013, while Morgan is playing outside linebacker for the first time in his life. Expect the Titans' defense to get worse before it gets better transitioning to a 3-4.

The Nashville Tennessean's John Glennon says he's "now more inclined to jump on the hype wagon" after watching Justin Hunter's training camp.

Glennon admits he entered camp skeptical of Hunter, but the sophomore wideout has "progressed faster than imagined," while combining "freakish" skills with a more confident approach. "Hunter appears ready to become a consistent big-play threat," Glennon concludes. Still regularly available in the tenth round of fantasy drafts, Hunter remains an ideal, high-ceiling WR4.

Coach Rex Ryan reiterated this week that he doesn't anticipate that "one guy is just going to carry the load" in the Jets' backfield this season.

Chris Johnson had one run of 25-plus yards last year. Chris Ivory had five carries of 25-plus yards on 97 fewer attempts. Johnson continues to talk himself up as an annual 1,000-yard rusher -- he is, because he's stayed healthy and compiled numbers -- but based on recent efficiency, CJ?K isn't the best runner in the Jets' backfield. New York plans to use a committee approach this season.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis is uncertain to play in the Bengals' third preseason game Sunday due to an "unknown" injury.

It's believed he suffered the injury in Cincinnati's second preseason game, where Law Firm exited after just one carry for three yards. Green-Ellis' likely absence paves the way for rookie Jeremy Hill to run with Cincy's No. 2 tailback job. Cedric Peerman and UDFA James Wilder will also get more carries.
