Jake Peavy experienced renewed back tightness after his minor league rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and will be evaluated by a doctor.
Giants skipper Bruce Bochy said that the team will slow play his recovery, which is an obvious setback in his return to the Giants rotation. There is no clear timetable for him to resume throwing at the moment.
Carlos Santana will return from the paternity leave list and join the Indians on Sunday in Seattle.
Santana was away from the team to be with his wife for the birth of their baby girl, and he has enjoyed a couple of days with his newborn. Expect him back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Mariners.
Ervin Santana threw 60 pitches in a live batting practice session on Friday without any issues.
He'll throw again this weekend before heading to extended spring training to start working in live game action. He's in line to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester in mid-June before rejoining the Twins when his suspension is up in July.
Mariners recalled RHP Dominic Leone from Triple-A Tacoma.
He'll take the place of James Paxton on the active roster. Leone owns a 5.40 ERA and 4/6 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings out of the Mariners bullpen on the season. He'll likely hang around until the team decides how best to replace Paxton in the rotation.
Mariners placed LHP James Paxton on the 15-day disabled list with a strained tendon in his finger.
The young southpaw was removed from his start on Thursday with the issue. It's unclear at the moment how long he'll be sidelined, but the Mariners should have an update on his status soon. Domonic Leone has been recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.
Stephen Strasburg was removed from Friday's outing against the Reds with an apparent shoulder injury.
He faced just five batters before departing with the team trainer. The right-hander obviously hasn't been right all season, and a trip to the disabled list looks increasingly likely.
Drew Pomeranz (shoulder) is scheduled to make his first minor league rehab start with High-A Stockton on Sunday.
He will work two innings in his first outing and build up from there. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to rejoin the rotation in late June
Brewers placed RHP Brandon Kintzler on the 15-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis.
It had been reported that he would be designated for assignment to make room for Jean Segura to rejoin the roster, but it appears they have skirted the roster issue for the time being. Look for him to return at some point in mid-to-late June.
