Mitch Moreland could require minor elbow surgery which would sideline him for 2-to-3 weeks.

Moreland was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a sore elbow and went for further examination. The Rangers won't make a decision on his status for a few days while they gather additional information, but it's safe to say that Moreland won't return to the lineup any time soon.

Jaime Garcia (shoulder) faced live hitters for the first time on Friday but is still at least six weeks away from a potential return to the Cardinals.

Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak indicated that Garcia's goal is to come back as a starting pitcher, but likened his progress to this point as being at the beginning of spring training. The Cardinals will obviously play things cautiously in his recovery, so fantasy owners shouldn't count on anything out of the left-hander until around midseason.

Carl Crawford (ankle) returned to the Dodgers lineup on Friday, going 1-for-5 in a victory over the Rockies.

Crawford sat out Wednesday's contest after jamming his ankle on Tuesday, but the injury appears to have been very minor. The veteran outfielder is off to a bit of a slow start in 2015, slashing .258/.281/.323 with one RBI and zero stolen bases in his first nine games.

Ben Zobrist (heel) went 0-for-4 in his return to the Athletics lineup on Friday.

He sat out Wednesday's contest with a sore heel and got an extra day to rest with Thursday's off-day. Serving primarily as the third hitter in Bob Melvin's lineup, Zobrist is hitting .256/.302/.462 with a homer and six RBI through his first 10 games.

Pablo Sandoval (foot) went 1-for-2 and drew a walk in his return to the Red Sox lineup on Friday.

Sandoval had been sidelined since leaving Tuesday's game with a bruised left foot after being drilled by a pitch. He's off to a terrific start to his Red Sox career, hitting .316/.409/.316 in the early going.

Brett Gardner (wrist) appeared as a pinch runner in Friday's victory over the Rays.

He has been nursing a bone bruise in his right wrist and is expected to return to the Yankees starting lineup on Saturday. He certainly did his job on Friday after pinch-running for Carlos Beltran, Gardner swiped second base and scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by Alex Rodriguez.

Clayton Kershaw is on the board with his first win after surrendering three runs -- one earned -- in six innings Friday against the Rockies.

Kershaw struck out 12 and lowered his ERA from 5.84 to 4.42. He still wasn't at his absolute best, but he's going to be just fine.

Kyle Kendrick was tagged for six runs in 4 2/3 innings by the Dodgers in Friday's loss.

Kendrick has followed up his surprising Opening Day win (seven scoreless against the Brewers) by giving up 14 runs his last two times out. This would be a bigger problem if anyone out there actually owned him in a fantasy league.
