CC Sabathia (hamstring) threw 35 pitches in a bullpen session Sunday.

It was his first bullpen session since being placed on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring earlier this month. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Sabathia is progressing "very, very well" and mentioned that a simulated game could be the next step. The veteran southpaw appears on track to return before the All-Star break.

Pirates prospect outfielder Austin Meadows is expected to miss up to four weeks after receiving a platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection last week for a right hamstring tear.

Meadows suffered the injury last week. It's the latest frustrating development for the 22-year-old, who has struggled to the tune of a .248/.313/.358 batting line with four homers and 35 RBI through 64 games this season in Triple-A. Meadows was mentioned as a possibility for a call-up after Starling Marte's PED suspension back in April, but the Pirates didn't think he was ready at the time. At this point, the priority should be getting him healthy to finish the year on a high note.

Tim Tebow - OF - Mets

The Mets have promoted Tim Tebow to High-A St. Lucie.

Tebow "earned" the promotion after batting .220/.311/.336 with three homers, 23 RBI, and 69 strikeouts through 64 games with Class A Columbia. While the results haven't been great, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said the team has been impressed by his increased exit velocity and isolated power in addition to his contributions in the clubhouse. Of course, Tebow has plenty of fans in Florida and should be a nice draw at the gate.

Tyler Anderson suffered a hamstring cramp during his start against the Dodgers on Sunday.

Anderson was making his first start in 3 1/2 weeks after landing on the disabled list with left knee inflammation. The southpaw began his outing with two scoreless innings before things went south in the third. He lobbied to stay in the game before being replaced by Jordan Lyles. He'll be reevaluated before the Rockies decide on the next step.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that the Rays are "believed to be the front-runners" to acquire Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria.

The Rays would presumably install Hechavarria as their regular shortstop and move Tim Beckham to second base. Frisaro notes that the Marlins are in discussions with multiple teams, but they hope to get a deal done before Tuesday. Hechavarria, who is nearing a return from an oblique injury, was batting .277/.288/.385 with one home run and six RBI over 20 games prior to landing on the DL. The 28-year-old is making $4.35 million this season and is under team control through 2018. The Marlins want to clear his salary and net one or two pitching prospects in return.

Nick Franklin (hamstring) flew out as a pinch-hitter Sunday against the Braves.

Franklin left Friday's game with hamstring tightness and was ejected from Saturday's game after yelling something from the dugout. The 26-year-old is hitting .195/.258/.317 with two homers and 10 RBI over 53 games this season in a utility role.

Eric Sogard (knee) went 1-for-5 with a single in his return to action Sunday against the Braves.

Sogard was limited to pinch-hitting duties on Saturday after he was hit in the knee by a pitch during Friday's game. The 31-year-old has been an unexpected contributor this season, hitting .353/.462/.529 with three home runs and 14 RBI over 38 games.

Madison Bumgarner (shoulder) tossed three no-hit innings Sunday in his first minor league rehab start with the Giants' Arizona Rookie League team.

Bumgarner, who is coming back from a sprained left AC joint in his shoulder, struck out two and walked one. According to Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports, the southpaw sat in the 88-91 mph range with his fastball. The plan calls for him to return to San Francisco on Monday and throw another bullpen session later in the week before continuing his rehab stint. If all goes well, the Giants' ace should return by the end of July.
