Rubby De La Rosa struck out two over two scoreless innings of work in his Cactus League debut against the Rockies Wednesday.

De La Rosa allowed a lone hit and didn't walk anyone. It will be a big spring for the 26-year-old, who came over from the Red Sox in the Wade Miley trade. De La Rosa throws smoke and should have a shot at winning a rotation spot with a good showing. Wednesday was a good start.
Mar 4 - 6:16 PM

Colby Lewis took a drubbing in Wednesday's Cactus League opener, allowing six runs in one inning of work.

Lewis allowed a walk and five hits, three of which were home runs. That's about as far away from ideal as his spring debut could have gone. The 35-year-old right-hander is looking to prove himself again after a tough 2014 campaign in which he put up a 5.18 ERA with a league-leading 14 losses in 170 1/3 innings.
Mar 4 - 6:15 PM

Avisail Garcia walked, doubled twice, knocked in a run, and scored a run in three at-bats as the White Sox earned a 6-4 victory over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Garcia played in only 46 games last season due to an avulsion fracture in his shoulder. The White Sox sorely missed his abilities last season and hope Wednesday's effort is an indication of what they can expect in 2015. Garcia batted .244 with seven home runs and 29 RBI in 190 plate appearances in 2014.
Mar 4 - 6:10 PM

Zach Putnam was sidelined Wednesday with a stomach ailment.

Putnam was kept out of Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers as a result. It's been a rough start to spring for the 27-year-old, who has also nursed back tightness in the early days of camp. The stomach issue shouldn't keep him out long, so he's day to day for now.
Mar 4 - 6:09 PM

Joc Pederson singled, doubled, and scored a run in two at-bats in Wednesday's Cactus League opener.

Pederson figures to be the Dodgers' starting center fielder on Opening Day. He recorded only four singles in 28 at-bats in September last season, his first taste of big league competition. The Dodgers have high expectations for the 22-year-old, though, who is a potential 20 HR/20 SB candidate.
Mar 4 - 6:06 PM

Adam LaRoche, in two at-bats on Wednesday, doubled in a pair of runs and scored a run.

The White Sox are counting on LaRoche to have another productive year at the age of 35. He will have the luxury of not having to play defense as he'll serve as the club's primary DH throughout the year. LaRoche posted an .817 OPS with 26 home runs and 92 RBI last season.
Mar 4 - 6:02 PM

Ji-Man Choi has been diagnosed with a fractured right fibula.

Choi suffered the injury when he tried to reach for a bad throw from shortstop Tyler Smith near the end of Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Padres. The 23-year-old first baseman will obviously be out for an extended period of time. He hit .282/.386/.403 with six home runs and 35 RBI in 74 games last season between Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Tacoma.
Mar 4 - 6:00 PM

Alexei Ramirez notched two hits in three at-bats and knocked in a trio of runs in Wednesday's Cactus League opener.

Ramirez bursts out of the gate with a nice showing. He singled in a run in the second inning, then doubled in a pair in the fifth. The shortstop had his best offensive showing in years last season, finishing with 15 home runs, 74 RBI, and 21 stolen bases. Ramirez's combination of power and speed arguably make him a top-five fantasy shortstop.
