Michael Brantley - OF - Indians

Michael Brantley went 2-for-3 with a double in Friday's loss to the Red Sox.

As a team, the Indians only mustered four total hits, and Brantley had half of them. His season is off to a fantastic start, hitting .312/.366/.399 with two homers, 24 RBI and three stolen bases. With Nick Swisher now playing first base on a nightly basis, Brantley should continue to see everyday at-bats in the Indians' outfield.

Justin Masterson - S - Indians

Justin Masterson had a rough night against his former team on Friday, serving up five runs on six hits over six innings of work in a losing effort against the Red Sox.

Masterson struck out five on the night while walking one. Mike Carp’s three-run homer in the second inning was the biggest blow against him. This poor outing comes on the heels of two terrific starts where Masterson had tossed 16 scoreless innings. He’ll carry a 7-3 record, 3.20 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into Wednesday’s matchup against the Reds at home.

Sean Nolin - S - Blue Jays

Blue Jays optioned LHP Sean Nolin to Double-A New Hampshire.

Nolin had a chance to impress and earn a spot in the Blue Jays' rotation, but was hit extremely hard in Friday's loss to the Orioles. He'll require more seasoning at the minor league level before he's ready to contribute for the Jays.

Jim Henderson - R - Brewers

Jim Henderson was removed from Friday's game against the Pirates due to an apparent leg injury.

No word yet on the extent of the injury or how much time he may miss. Francisco Rodriguez, and not John Axford, replaced Henderson with the Brewers clinging to a one-run lead. The team should release an update on his status after the game.

Ryan Hanigan - C - Reds

Ryan Hanigan blasted a three-run homer on Friday, helping to power the Reds to a 7-4 victory over the visiting Cubs.

His three-run blast capped off a five-run uprising in the fourth inning off Scott Feldman. It was Hanigan’s lone hit in four trips to the plate in the game. He’s off to a very slow start offensively, hitting .167/.263/.258 with two homers and eight RBI through his first 21 games. He remains a fringe option in two-catcher leagues.

Aroldis Chapman - R - Reds

Aroldis Chapman allowed a couple of baserunners, but struck out the side in the ninth inning on Friday to preserve a three-run lead and earn his 11th save of the season.

Chapman hasn't been nearly as dominant as he was a season ago, but has still posted a 2.74 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39/10 K/BB ratio through his first 23 innings. With Sean Marshall on the disabled list and Jonathan Broxton struggling, his job remains extremely secure.

Nick Markakis - OF - Orioles

Nick Markakis went 3-for-5 with a three-run double in Friday's 10-6 win over the Blue Jays.

He also drew a walk and scored a run. Markakis has hit safely in nine straight games and has pulled his batting average up from .281 to an even .300 for the year. With 27 RBI through 48 games, Markakis is already halfway to his RBI total from last season.

Bronson Arroyo - S - Reds

Bronson Arroyo turned in a quality start in Friday’s victory over the Cubs, allowing three runs on six hits over his six innings.

Arroyo walked two while striking out a pair in the game. The Cubs jumped on him for three runs in the second inning, including a two-run homer by Scott Feldman, but he battled back nicely and shut their offense down for the remainder of his night. While the strikeout rate will never be impressive, the veteran right-hander has proven to be an asset in mixed leagues, going 5-4 with a 3.39 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through his first 66 1/3 innings. He’ll look to keep things rolling when he takes on the Indians in Cleveland on Wednesday.
