Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the team could shut down Josh Doctson (Achilles') for a couple weeks.

"We've had all of the tests, and there is really nothing there that we should be concerned about from a long-term problem," Gruden said. "It could be a possibility or a time that we put him down for a couple more weeks or a couple more days." Doctson is reportedly dealing with some pain in his troublesome Achilles'. He is not going to play this week, and it looks like he could miss multiple games.

Saints coach Sean Payton said LT Terron Armstead (knee, quad) is not dealing with a long-term injury.

Even so, Armstead missed all of last week before sitting out Wednesday's session as well. He looks unlikely to return this week. Andrus Peat will continue to start in his place.

Chiefs CB Marcus Peters (illness) sat out Thursday's practice.

It is the second miss in a row for Peters, who is suffering from the flu. There is not much reason to worry about his Week 4 availability. Peters should see plenty of Antonio Brown Sunday night.

Charcandrick West (ankle) will not practice Thursday.

It is his second missed session in a row, which puts his availability for this weekend in serious doubt. Spencer Ware should dominate work against the Steelers.
Sep 29 - 12:50 PM

Texans ILB Brian Cushing (knee) practiced again on Thursday.

Cushing was expected to miss six weeks, but the Texans are hopeful he can return after just two games. Even if he sits out again this Sunday, it is clear he will beat his initial timetable. With J.J. Watt (back) out for likely the season, the Texans need all hands on deck.
Sep 29 - 12:47 PM

Browns CB Joe Haden (groin) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Haden was inactive Week 3 after suffering a groin injury last Thursday. He was close to playing against the Dolphins, and this limited practice puts him on track to return this week.
Sep 29 - 12:31 PM

Lions WLB DeAndre Levy (quad) did not practice Wednesday.

Neither did DE Ezekiel Ansah (ankle). Levy has a better chance than Ansah to play against the Bears, but both are expected to miss. Chicago's offense has struggled, but they have a great matchup this week against a banged up defense.

Giants S Nat Berhe has been placed in the concussion protocol.

He complained of a headache and not feeling well on Wednesday. With Berhe likely to miss this week and Darian Thompson out with a foot injury, the Giants are incredibly thin at safety. CB Leon Hall should see some time there this week.
