Wilson Ramos had to leave Monday's game against the Orioles after being hit in the head with Ruben Tejada's bat on a backswing.

Tejada's bat shattered and the broken barrel struck Ramos in the helmet. The catcher immediately went down and his head appeared to be bleeding in what was a scary incident. The Rays should update Ramos' status soon, but he's surely headed for concussion tests.

Jaime Garcia will make his Twins debut on Friday in Oakland.

Garcia was acquired via trade from the Braves on Monday. The Twins have not announced yet whose spot in the rotation he'll take, but Bartolo Colon would certainly appear to be vulnerable.

Dodgers recalled RHP Josh Ravin from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Ravin has spent nearly all of the season at Oklahoma City, posting a 4.35 ERA and 49/13 K/BB ratio over 31 innings. He'll work in middle relief.

Mets shortstop prospect Amed Rosario (illness) returned to the lineup at Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Rosario missed nearly a week of action with gastroenteritis. The top prospect could finally debut for the Mets after the trade deadline once the club unloads some veterans, although nothing is guaranteed at this point.

Padres manager Andy Green said Monday that Brad Hand, Phil Maton and Kirby Yates will be in the mix for saves following the trade of Brandon Maurer.

Green also said that Carter Capps, who has been pitching much better at Triple-A El Paso, is also "definitely in the conversation." Hand, of course, could be traded in the next week, so him being the likely favorite for saves might be short-lived. Both Maton (3.63 ERA, 18/2 K/BB ratio over 17 1/3 innings) and Yates (2.23 ERA, 49/9 K/BB ratio over 32 1/3 innings) have both pitched very well and are worth stashing. Capps is a worthy speculative add, as well.

Robinson Chirinos (ankle) could be available to play as soon as Wednesday.

Chirinos is feeling better than expected Monday after spraining his left ankle Sunday. "I woke up today, and it felt better than I thought," Chirinos said. "I hit in the cage. It felt like I can deal with it. The way I felt yesterday, I thought it would feel worse today." With Chirinos considered only day-to-day, the Rangers can go back to shopping Jonathan Lucroy.

George Springer departed Monday's game against the Phillies with discomfort in his left quad.

It's unclear when Springer suffered the injury or whether it could potentially be more than a day-to-day situation. The Astros will have an update on their star outfielder after the game.

Xander Bogaerts was a late scratch from the Red Sox' lineup Monday due to illness.

Bogaerts has dealt with a sprain of a joint in his right hand recently, but he's sitting out this one because he's under the weather. Andrew Benintendi had been slated for a day off but entered the lineup in Bogaerts' place.
