Red Sox activated OF Shane Victorino from the 15-day disabled list.
Victorino has been on the shelf since late May with a calf injury. He's in line to serve on the short side of a platoon in right field with Alejandro De Aza.
Red Sox optioned OF Jackie Bradley to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Bradley had for hits -- including a home run -- over 19 at-bats in his most recent stint with the big club. He's replaced on the roster by Shane Victorino, who is back from the disabled list.
Red Sox placed C Blake Swihart on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 1, with a sprained left foot.
Swihart first suffered the injury two weeks ago and has never quite been able to shake it. The decision to DL him was made easy by Ryan Hanigan's return.
Giants designated RHP Brett Bochy for assignment.
The move clears a spot of the 40-man roster for Josh Osich. The son of manager Bruce Bochy, Brett holds a 4.30 ERA with just 18 strikeouts over 29 1/3 relief innings for Triple-A Sacramento this season.
Giants purchased the contract of LHP Josh Osich from Triple-A Sacramento.
Osich has had a great year, putting up a 1.50 ERA and 37/11 K/BB ratio over 36 innings between Double- and Triple-A. He'll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.
Giants optioned RHP Michael Broadway to Triple-A Sacramento.
Broadway allowed three runs over 7 1/3 relief innings for the Giants. Josh Osich has replaced him in the bullpen.
Rays released LHP Andy Oliver.
Oliver has exercised the opt-out clause in his minor league contract. He posted a 3.86 ERA with 32 strikeouts over 28 innings at Triple-A Durham, but walks remained an issue for him with a whopping 24 free passes.
Colby Rasmus (illness) is hoping to return to the lineup on Saturday.
Rasmus was in the hospital from Sunday to Wednesday after developing an infection following a bug bite. He's feeling much better now, though, and is aiming to be back out there shortly.
