Cole Hamels (oblique) is on track to rejoin the Rangers' rotation on Monday in Cleveland.

That's assuming things go as planned during his bullpen session Friday. Hamels allowed just one run while striking out eight over 8 2/3 innings in two rehab starts, going 5 2/3 frames and throwing 81 pitches in his final outing Wednesday. The veteran lefty should be ready for close to a full workload versus the Tribe. Hamels has been out since early May with a strained right oblique.

Martin Perez could miss his next scheduled start after breaking the tip of his right (non-throwing) thumb when he slammed it in a hotel door.

For what it's worth, Perez, expects to throw his normal between-starts bullpen session Saturday and then be ready to go for his next outing. However, the Rangers aren't so sure. We'll have a better idea as to his status over the weekend.

Yadier Molina was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup Friday due to a sore knee.

Molina's knee flared up after it was hit by a foul tip Thursday. He should be back in there in a day or two. Eric Fryer will do the catching Friday.

Tigers purchased the contract of OF Matt den Dekker from Triple-A Toledo.

Den Dekker is a .236/.318/.359 hitter at the major league level but has a solid glove. He could get some starts in center field.

Tigers recalled RHP Bruce Rondon from Triple-A Toledo.

Rondon was bombed for six runs over 1 1/3 innings back in April for the Tigers, and his control remained a mess at Toledo (18 walks in 26 2/3 frames). He'll be used in low-leverage situations.

Tigers placed OF Alex Presley on the 7-day concussion disabled list.

Presley collided with the outfield wall Thursday. As is always the case with concussions, it's up in the air as to how much time he'll miss. Mikie Mahtook and Andrew Romine will be in line for more playing time in center field while Presley is sidelined.
Jun 23 - 5:04 PM

Tigers released RHP Francisco Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was removed from the closer role in early May and hasn't been any better in a less demanding job, ultimately posting a 7.82 ERA over 28 appearances this season. The 35-year-old was pretty good for the Tigers in 2016 and shouldn't be out of a job long, but it's certainly possible that his days as an effective reliever are over.

Hector Santiago (shoulder) will rejoin the Twins' rotation Tuesday in Boston.

Santiago has been sidelined for most of June with inflammation in his pitching shoulder. He's not a recommended fantasy option against the Red Sox.
