Edwin Encarnacion homered and had six RBI as the Blue Jays thumped the Rangers 12-2 on Thursday.

E5 finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and a stolen base. He did most of his damage on two swings, clearing the bases with a double in the first inning before launching a three-run homer in the third. He's started to come on in recent days, homering in two straight. He's certainly capable of going on a tear for weeks at a time. Perhaps this is the start to a memorable May for the 33-year-old.
May 5 - 10:15 PM

Ezequiel Carrera went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a run scored Thursday against the Rangers.

Drawing an increasingly rare start, Carrera notched two of the team's 15 hits on the night. Unlike some of his past starts, he batted at the bottom of the Jays' lineup, not the top. He's hit when in the lineup -- wherever that is -- batting .359/.405/.487 through 39 at-bats.
May 5 - 10:10 PM

Josh Donaldson went 1-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Rangers.

Donaldson scored three of the Jays' 12 runs in the drubbing. He still leads the league in home runs (9) and runs scored (29), and that shouldn't change hitting second in a robust Jays lineup. The third baseman is batting .283/.391/.611 in 30 games.
May 5 - 10:04 PM

Kevin Pillar went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored against the Rangers on Thursday.

Pillar had a pair of doubles among his three hits, with his double in the third inning plating two. Notably, Pillar also drew the start atop the Blue Jays' lineup against a lefty. The outfielder is batting .297/.339/.423 overall.

The Twins are expected to demote John Ryan Murphy to Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

Murphy continued his season-long slump by going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Thursday. At this point he could probably use a change of scenery. Juan Centeno is expected to take Murphy's vacant roster spot.
May 5 - 9:57 PM

Derek Holland was battered by the Blue Jays on Thursday, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits over 2 2/3 innings.

Holland had allowed just eight runs total in his first five starts and hadn't given up more than five hits in a game before Thursday's disaster. The southpaw saw his ERA rise from 2.48 to 5.40 with the poor outing, and he also owns a 1.39 WHIP through six starts. Holland will look to get back on the horse Tuesday against the White Sox.
May 5 - 9:54 PM

The Twins are expected to call up Juan Centeno from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.

The Twins will have to add him to their 40-man roster. John Ryan Murphy will likely be sent down in the corresponding roster move. Centeno's numbers this year are pretty ordinary (.245, 1 HR, 4 RBI in 15 games for Rochester) but the Twins needed to make a change with Murphy struggling mightily (3-for-40 with seven strikeouts).
May 5 - 9:52 PM

J.A. Happ limited the Rangers to one run over seven innings in a win Thursday.

Happ scattered six hits and a walk while striking out five. He was much better than he needed to be, as his teammates provided him with 12 runs of support. Happ still hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his six starts, improving to 4-0 with a 2.50 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. Happ will go back to his National League roots Tuesday when he takes on the Giants in San Francisco.
