Jordy Mercer (ankle) may be available off the bench Saturday night against the Brewers.

Mercer was removed from Friday's game after getting spiked in the ankle while trying to turn a doubleplay in the fourth inning. He did not suffer a major injury.
Apr 19 - 4:47 PM

Koji Uehara issued his first walk since last Aug. 5, but he struck out the other three Orioles he faced for a save Saturday.

Uehara went his last 23 regular-season innings, 13 2/3 postseason innings and then six innings this year without walking a batter before throwing ball four to Matt Wieters today. His current 11/1 K/BB ratio this season is actually worse than his mark from last year (101/9) or 2012 (43/3).
Apr 19 - 4:46 PM

Bud Norris dropped to 0-2 after giving up four runs in 6 1/3 innings Saturday against the Red Sox.

Norris allowed two runs through six before losing the quality start in seventh. He did strike out seven on the day. Through three starts, he has a 4.42 ERA, which is right about where we'd expect him to finish the season if he lasts in the rotation.
Apr 19 - 4:43 PM

Grady Sizemore went 0-for-4 on Saturday to drop his average to .245.

Sizemore is 1-for-18 in his last four starts. It should be nothing more than a fluke, but he's really struggled in his time in the leadoff spot this season, going 3-for-26 with no extra-base hits and one walk in six games. He's 10-for-27 with four extra-base hits and three walks while hitting fifth or sixth.
Apr 19 - 4:41 PM

Chris Davis went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Saturday's loss and is 3-for-18 over his last six games.

Davis already had 30 homers by this time last year, so it's rather disappointing to see him stuck on one through 55 at-bats. Still, it's not a major concern just yet. Even after his recent slump, he's still batting .255, and there's no doubt the homers will come soon enough.
Apr 19 - 4:38 PM

Nick Castellanos belted a two-run homer off C.J. Wilson, powering the Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the Angels at Comerica Park on Satuday.

The rookie third sacker finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now hitting .256/.326/.462 with two homers and seven RBI on the season. He should continue to see plenty of RBI opportunities hitting sixth or seventh in the Tigers lineup, making him a worthwhile option as a corner infielder in deeper mixed formats.
Apr 19 - 4:35 PM

Victor Martinez went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, reaching base all four times in Saturday's victory over the Angels.

Martinez tagged opposing starter C.J. Wilson for a solo homer in the fifth inning to increase the Tigers advantage to 4-1. He's been terrific in the early part of the season, slashing .333/.400/.542 with three homers and seven RBI in his first 14 games.
Apr 19 - 4:32 PM

Rangers recalled INF Luis Sardinas from Double-A Frisco.

The 20-year-old infielder was off to a slow start this year at the Double-A level, batting just .226 with a .519 OPS. But he was rated a Top 75 prospect over the winter by Baseball Prospectus and could have an exciting future. He stole 32 bases in the minors last year.
