Franklin Barreto had the best day of his young MLB career on Friday afternoon, blasting a pair of three-run homers as the Athletics routed the White Sox 11-2.

The 22-year-old smashed a three-run homer off of James Shields in the second inning to increase the A's early lead to 4-0. He then tacked on an additional three-run bomb off of Luis Avilan in the eighth to help put the game away. He finished the day 2-for-4 with six RBI and is now slashing .217/.250/.309 with three homers and nine RBI in his first 24 plate appearances at the big league level this season. While he's been impressive the last few days, he's only up to fill in for the injured Matt Chapman and is expected to head back to Triple-A Nashville in short order, limiting his fantasy appeal.

Khris Davis went 2-for-5 and drove in his 50th run of the season as the Athletics topped the White Sox in the first game of Friday's doubleheader.

Davis came through with an RBI single off of James Shields as part of a four-run uprising in the fifth inning. With the two-hit attack, he's now hitting .238/.320/.528 with 20 long balls and 50 RBI. Only J.D. Martinez, Mitch Haniger and Manny Machado have driven in more runs than Davis in the American League this season.

Jed Lowrie went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in the Athletics' lopsided victory over the White Sox in the first game of Friday's doubleheader.

Lowrie delivered an RBI single in the fifth inning to increase the A's advantage to 5-0, then later came around to score in the inning. The 34-year-old has cooled off a bit after his hot start to the season, but is still slashing .287/.345/.474 with 11 homers and 48 RBI on the year.

Sean Manaea dominated the White Sox in the first game of Friday's doubleheader, striking out seven over seven innings of one-run baseball.

Manaea scattered just five hits on the afternoon and didn't walk a batter. The only blemish on his day came on an RBI ground out by Kevan Smith in the sixth inning. With the victory, the 26-year-old southpaw now sits at 7-6 on the season with a 3.40 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 75/19 K/BB ratio across 100 2/3 innings. He'll look to keep it rolling when he squares off against the Tigers in Detroit on Thursday.

Avisail Garcia went 1-for-4 with a single and a pair of strike outs in his return to the White Sox' lineup on Friday.

Unfortunately, Garcia's long-awaited return came during a game in which they were slaughtered by the Athletics. The 27-year-old outfielder will probably sit out the nightcap as a precautionary measure before jumping right back in on Saturday.

James Shields received no help from his defense in Friday's loss to the Athletics, allowing eight runs (two earned) on five hits over his 4 2/3 innings.

The White Sox defense made three critical errors behind him, which led to six of the eight runs he allowed being unearned. The veteran right-hander walked two and punched out four on the afternoon. The biggest blow against him came in the second inning, where Franklin Barreto clubbed a three-run homer. Shields will try to put this one behind him and get back on track when he does battle against the Twins on Thursday.

Roberto Osuna was suspended for 75 games, without pay, for violating the league's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

The suspension is retroactive to his arrest date of May 8, which means that he'll be ineligible to return until August 4. Osuna's next scheduled court date is on July 9 where he plans to plead not guilty. Ryan Tepera will continue to fill in as the Blue Jays' closer for the time being.

Orioles' manager Buck Showalter said Friday that Tim Beckham is expected to return from the disabled list on Monday.

The original expectation was that he would return on Saturday, but the club is going to give him a couple of extra days just to be safe. Beckham has been sidelined since April 25 following core muscle surgery.
