Clayton Richard allowed three earned runs, five hits and three walks with six strikeouts over five innings in a loss at Arizona on Saturday.

After turning in a quality start on March 29 in his first outing of the season he has allowed three or more runs while posting just five innings in each of his past four assignments. Walks have done him in and kept him from going deeper into the game, as he has yielded exactly three free passes in each of the past four outings. He'll look to get on track on Friday against the visiting Mets.

Josh Reddick went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a grand slam to total five RBI in Saturday's 10-1 win over the White Sox.

The Astros put up four runs on Lucas Giolito in the first inning via a single, a sacrifice fly and a two-run double. Reddick got four in all on his own just one frame later, slamming Giolito with the bases juiced to push his team out to an early 8-0 advantage. He would have one more loud moment before the end of the game, crunching a solo home run in the fourth inning. With this stellar showing in the books, Reddick is now working to a strong .267/.380/.583 triple-slash with six home runs and 15 RBI across 18 games played. He's gone yard in two of his last three games.

Chris Sale allowed three earned runs, six hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts over seven innings in a loss at Oakland on Saturday.

Sale suffered his first loss of the season, but he turned in a quality start and his counterpart, Sean Manaea, tossed a no-hitter. The 10 strikeouts were also a season best for Sale. He has allowed just 22 hits with two homers and six walks while striking out 41 batters over 29 innings through five outings. The wins might not be flowing right now, but they're coming. He'll look to get back into the win column on Friday in his next scheduled start against the visiting Rays.
Apr 22 - 12:26 AM

Marcus Semien finished Saturday's 3-0 victory against the Red Sox with a solo home run, a walk and three runs scored.

Semien has been a nice table-setter at the top of the Oakland lineup, scoring 11 runs over the past nine outings. He also stole a base for the second time in three games to get things started, providing all of the runs in Saturday's special game for the A's. He has hit safely in 14 of the past 17 contests.
Apr 22 - 12:22 AM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a two-run double in Saturday's win over the White Sox.

Gonzalez put the exclamation point on a four-run first inning by the Astros via his two-run ground rule double. He later picked up a single. While he remains a very versatile player, Gonzalez has come out of the gates horribly flat after turning in a surprisingly robust body of work in 2017. This season, he's slashing just .200/.305/.300 with one home run and nine RBI across 70 at-bats.
Apr 22 - 12:20 AM

James Paxton lasted just four innings Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits in a no-decision against the Rangers.

Paxton walked three and struck out six, using 96 pitches to get through his four innings. It was the second time in five starts that he's gone fewer than five innings, and one other time he went just five. His 5.61 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through five starts speak to his struggles to be both efficient and effective thus far, but when he's on, like he was in his previous two starts in which he struck out 17 while allowing three runs combined, he's fantastic. It's the risk-reward fantasy owners must live with in Paxton. They'll hope the good one shows up Friday when the southpaw takes on the Indians.
Apr 22 - 12:14 AM

Bartolo Colon allowed four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Saturday.

Colon clearly didn't have his best stuff -- he hadn't allowed four runs combined heading into the start -- but he left in line for his first win of the year before the Rangers bullpen let him down. Through five appearances, including three starts, the 44-year-old possesses a 2.59 ERA and 0.86 WHIP, but remains without a decision. He'll try for that elusive first win Friday against the Blue Jays instead.
Apr 22 - 12:13 AM

Sean Manaea allowed just two walks with 10 strikeouts for his first-career no-hitter in Saturday's 3-0 victory against the Red Sox.

Well, that's one way to cool off the red hot Red Sox. It was the seventh no-no in Oakland history and the first since Dallas Braden's perfect game back in 2010. Andrew Benintendi drew a walk with two outs in the ninth to make things a bit hairy, but Manaea got Hanley Ramirez to ground out to make history. His 10 strikeouts matched a career high as he threw 75 of his 108 pitches for strikes. He'll try to join Johnny Vander Meer with back-to-back no-hitters when he makes his next scheduled start Friday in Houston opposite Dallas Keuchel.
