Jason Heyward left Sunday's game versus the Brewers with an apparent left leg injury.
Heyward tweaked something while chasing after a ball in the right-field corner. He tested things out with some jogging and looked OK, but the Cardinals decided to go ahead and pull him just to be safe. The club should have an update on his status shortly.
Astros prospect Chris Devenski tossed 6 1/3 no-hit innings Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi.
The 24-year-old was removed after 87 pitches. Rangers prospect Jorge Alfaro broke up the no-hit bid shortly after. The Cal-State Fullerton alum hasn't allowed a run yet this season and has limited opponents to a .113 average in 57 plate appearances. Devenski's eight strikeouts Saturday were a season-high.
Brewers prospect Orlando Arcia extended his hitting streak to eight games Saturday with a 2-for-4 outing for Double-A Biloxi.
The 20-year-old went deep for his first Double-A home run on Saturday. Arcia's .458 average this season is second-best in the Southern League. Milwaukee's top prospect has recorded at least two hits in each of his last three games. If the name sounds familiar it's because Arcia's older brother Oswaldo plays outfield for the Minnesota Twins.
MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that the trade of Josh Hamilton to the Rangers could be finalized as soon as Sunday afternoon.
Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan says the deal could be announced Sunday evening. The Angels are reportedly willing to eat $68 million of the $80 million remaining on Hamilton's contract in order to get something done. Hamilton will sacrifice $6 million of guaranteed money and will receive an opt-out clause in his deal after the 2016 season.
Dodgers transferred RHP Brandon League from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Scott Baker. League will miss at least the first two months of the season with a right shoulder injury.
Dodgers placed RHP Joel Peralta on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 24, with right shoulder soreness.
Peralta first started dealing with a shoulder issues in spring training and it's dragged into the season. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined.
Dodgers placed OF Yasiel Puig on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 25, with a left hamstring strain.
Puig initially injured the hamstring nearly two weeks ago and just hasn't been able to get over the hump. The Dodgers think he could be ready in 4-5 days, but they've decided to finally play it safe and go ahead and make the DL move. Puig should be ready to go when his 15 days are up. Andre Ethier will see the lion's share of at-bats in right field while Puig is on the shelf.
Coco Crisp (elbow) could take batting practice by the end of the week.
Crisp is progressing ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery to remove a bone spur and chips from his right elbow. It's possible he could return around mid-May.
