Mike Zunino went 0-for-3 in Friday's loss and is still without an RBI this season.

Zunino had a great spring, but it certainly hasn't carried over, as he's started the season 4-for-33 with a 15/2 K/BB ratio in 10 games. The power numbers will be there in the end, but it's not a given that he'll improve much on last year's .199 average.

Trevor Plouffe delivered a walk-off solo homer in a 3-2 win over the Indians in 11 innings on Friday night.

How's that for a slump-buster? Plouffe came into Friday's action hitting .133 and went hitless over his first four at-bats before taking Bryan Shaw deep to leadoff the bottom of the 11th and send the Target Field fans home happy. The 28-year-old hasn't been able to replicate the power production he had in 2012, but he's capable of being a useful corner infielder in deeper mixed leagues.

Corey Kluber took a no-decision Friday after allowing two runs over eight innings against the Twins.

Kluber had a perfect game until giving up a leadoff single to Oswaldo Arcia in the bottom of the sixth inning. He ended up allowing two runs in the frame, which cost him a chance at a win. Still, it was a very solid outing, as he gave up just three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters. The 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner is still looking for his first win, but he has a 2.49 ERA and 25/4 K/BB ratio through 21 2/3 innings. This is no one-year wonder.
Apr 18 - 12:57 AM

Mike Pelfrey allowed one run over five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Indians.

The only run scored on a wild pitch in his final inning of work. It wasn't as strong of an outing as it appeared, as Pelfrey walked four batters while striking out just two. Still, the Twins will take it. The veteran right-hander owns a 4.50 ERA through two starts and will get the Royals next week. He's not a fantasy option.
Apr 18 - 12:57 AM

Michael Brantley (back) went 2-for-5 in his return to the lineup Friday.

Both hits were singles. Brantley, who served as the DH on Friday, missed the previous four games due to a back injury. The issue has already flared up a couple of times since spring training, so he might not be out of the woods yet.
Apr 18 - 12:56 AM

Brandon Moss launched a solo homer and drew a walk Friday against the Twins.

It was his first home run of the season. Moss came into Friday's action with just two hits in his first 20 at-bats. He's capable of posting big power numbers when healthy, so perhaps this will get him going.
Apr 18 - 12:55 AM

Michael Wacha fired seven innings of one-run ball in a 6-1 win over the Reds on Friday.

Wacha surrendered a solo homer to Joey Votto in the first inning, but held the Reds off the board the rest of the way. He allowed just five hits and one walk to go along with four strikeouts. The Cardinals put him in line for the win with a rally in the bottom of the seventh. Wacha has won each of his first two starts this season and owns a 1.35 ERA and 6/2 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings. He has major upside if he can stay healthy.
Apr 18 - 12:26 AM

Johnny Cueto struck out 10 batters, but gave up four runs over seven innings in a loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

Cueto held the Cardinals to just one run over the first six innings, but he got into some trouble in the seventh before intentionally walking Jon Jay to load the bases. Yadier Molina then hit a bases-clearing double. That was the ballgame. This was the ninth double-digit strikeout game of Cueto's career. He'll attempt to get back in the win column next week against the Brewers on the road.
