Mike Zunino is not in the Mariners starting lineup on Saturday.

It's nothing more than a routine day of rest for the backstop, being a day game after a night game. Jesus Sucre will draw the start behind the dish and bat ninth against Kendall Graveman and the Athletics.

Brandon Morrow (shoulder) threw 40 pitches in a successful bullpen session on Saturday.

The next step in his recovery is to throw a simulated game in Pittsburgh next week, and as long as everything goes well, he'll then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. Barring any setbacks, he could return to the rotation before the end of July.
Jul 4 - 1:36 PM

Mariners reinstated LHP David Rollins from the restricted list.

Rollins had to serve an 80-game suspension for use of performance-enhancing drugs. The Rule 5 pick appeared in seven games on his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma, hurling 9 1/3 shutout innings. He'll work in middle relief for the M's.
Jul 4 - 12:52 PM

Mariners recalled RHP Mayckol Guaipe from Triple-A Tacoma.

The 24-year-old hurler has appeared in just one game for the Mariners this season, striking out a pair in 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. He'll function in middle or long relief during his time with the M's.
Jul 4 - 12:50 PM

Mariners recalled OF James Jones from Triple-A Tacoma.

The 26-year-old has appeared in seven games for the M's this season, going hitless in eight at-bats. He's likely only with the club as an extra bat for a few days until Hisashi Iwakuma returns from the disabled list on Monday.
Jul 4 - 12:48 PM

Stephen Strasburg was forced to leave Saturday's start against the Giants with an apparent oblique injury.

Strasburg came back from the disabled list to throw a pair of gems last week, then hurled 3 2/3 scoreless frames against the Giants on Saturday before the injury bit him. It's unclear how serious the injury is, or how long he may be sidelined, but it's once again terrible news for the Nationals and fantasy owners alike, just as he was starting to roll. The Nats should have an update on his status shortly.
Jul 4 - 12:46 PM

Colby Rasmus (illness) has returned to the Astros starting lineup on Saturday.

He's back in center field and batting sixth for the Astros on Saturday after missing a week of action due to an infection he sustained from a bug bite.
Jul 4 - 12:16 PM

Matt Kemp is not in the Padres starting lineup on Saturday.

It's nothing more than a routine day of rest for Kemp. Melvin Upton is getting the start in his place in center field and will bat leadoff for the Padres against Carlos Martinez and the Cardinals.
