Matt den Dekker is in Washington, D.C. in case he's needed for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

He could be insurance if Denard Span (knee) is unable to play. The 27-year-old outfielder appeared in four games with the National earlier this season and owns a .230/.299/.289 batting line with Triple-A Syracuse.
Jun 2 - 2:21 PM

Mariners prospects IF/OF Patrick Kivlehan went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI on Monday for Triple-A Tacoma.

The home run was the ninth of the season for Kivlehan, who’s batting .239/.293/.439 with nine doubles and 26 RBI through 47 games. The 25-year-old also has eight stolen bases on the season. Kivlehan had a breakout 2014 campaign between High-A High Desert and Double-A Jackson, batting .295/.363/.507 with 61 extra-base hits (20 home runs), 103 RBI and 11 bases over 138 games. Kivlehan’s future role with the Mariners remains up in the air, but his ability to contribute at a variety of positions should have him in the major leagues at some point this season.
Jun 2 - 2:19 PM

Twins prospect 3B Miguel Sano went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run on Monday for Double-A Chattanooga.

Sano now has 10 homers on the year after a slow start, and his slash line sits at a much improved .250/.354/.506 through 45 games. The 22-year-old has swung a hot bat of late, with a .317 batting average, two home runs and 13 RBI in his last 10 contests. Sano’s strikeout (24.6%) and walk (13.3%) rates this season are close to his career averages, which is nice to see after he missed all of 2014. However, the reality that the Twins have no reason to rush the young slugger makes it difficult to envision him getting a shot in the major leagues this season unless there’s an injury.
Jun 2 - 2:10 PM

Dodgers prospect OF Alex Verdugo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Monday for Low-A Great Lakes.

The home run was the first of the season for Verdugo, who’s batting .220/.260/.298 with nine extra-base hits through the first 41 games of his full-season debut. The 19-year-old raked last summer after the Dodgers selected him in the second round of the draft, batting .353/.421/.511 with 21 extra-base hits, 41 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 54 games between the Rookie-level Arizona and Pioneer Leagues.
Jun 2 - 2:00 PM

Braves prospect OF Mallex Smith went 2-for-5 with his 17th stolen base of the season on Monday for Double-A Mississippi.

The two-hit performance pushed Smith’s batting average to .340, which is currently tops in the Southern League, while his OPS sits at an impressive .811 through 41 games. The Braves acquired the 22-year-old center fielder from the Padres during the offseason in the Justin Upton trade following a breakthrough 2014 campaign in which he batted .310/.403/.432 with 41 extra-base hits and 88 stolen bases in 120 games between both Class-A levels.
Jun 2 - 1:43 PM

Rockies recalled RHP David Hale from Triple-A Albuquerque.

He'll serve as the 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers and will start the second game. Hale allowed three runs (two earned) over 6 2/3 innings in spot start against the Giants last month, but he's not a fantasy option.
Jun 2 - 1:40 PM

Ivan Nova (elbow) threw in another extended spring training game on Tuesday.

Nova, who is currently working his way back from Tommy John surgery, tossed three innings before rain forced him indoors to pitch two more innings. He's likely to begin a minor league rehab assignment in High-A next week, which puts him on pace for a return around the All-Star break.
Jun 2 - 1:24 PM

Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is scheduled to take live batting practice Tuesday.

This comes one day after he tested his left hamstring by running at nearly 100 percent. Puig doesn't sound far off from going out on another minor league rehab assignment.
