Devonta Freeman (concussion) has been ruled out of the Falcons' third preseason game.

Freeman is in the final stages of the concussion protocol, but the Falcons aren't taking any chances. Freeman remains on track for Week 1.

Mitchell Trubisky is getting some reps with the first-team offense this week.

Trubisky has worked exclusively with the backups to this point. Mike Glennon will start Chicago's third preseason game, with Trubisky expected to get some reps with the first team in the second half. It's a positive development for the No. 2 overall pick, but Trubisky remains unlikely to unseat Glennon before Week 1.

Raiders LT Donald Penn has ended his holdout.

This was an expected move. Penn missed the first 26 days of training camp over a dispute with his 2017 salary. He didn't get a raise, but talks could open up now that he's back. Penn has a chance to play in the Raiders' third preseason game.

Rams signed DL Tyrunn Walker.

The Rams released Walker in June for an off-field incident that was later cleared. He's a veteran flyer after fading down the stretch for the Lions last year. Walker's return gives the Rams some depth with Aaron Donald holding out.

Seahawks RB coach Chad Morton expects C.J. Prosise (groin) to play in the third preseason game.

Prosise has yet to practice after he was injured in pregame warmups last week. He's day to day and will likely come down to a game-time decision. Even if he plays, Prosise's durability is a 2017 concern.

ESPN's Pat McManamon reports the Browns have renewed efforts to trade Brock Osweiler.

DeShone Kizer is on track to start Week 1 barring an implosion in the third week of the preseason, while Osweiler is not going to play this week. Osweiler's inactivity suggests the Browns are trying to keep him healthy in order to deal him. Osweiler essentially took a shot at Browns team hierarchy, replying "I think that's a great question for our general manager" when asked what would need to happen for him to win the starting job, suggesting it would be the GM's call and not coach Hue Jackson's. "I don't know where that came from," Jackson answered when asked about Osweiler's comment.

Saints signed FB Zach Line.

Line spent the last two years as Adian Peterson's lead blocker in Minnesota. He had offseason hip surgery, but is fully recovered. With John Kuhn the favorite for fullback duties, Line is likely just training camp depth.

Panthers C Ryan Kalil (shoulder) is expected to be ready for Week 1.

The Panthers have been moving Kalil slowly in his return from November surgery. He's yet to play this preseason, but is on track for the start of the season. The Panthers are counting on a healthy Kalil to anchor their interior line.
