ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that Joe Beimel is auditioning for interested teams this week.
Beimel is 39 years old and had some shoulder problems in 2015, but he should be able to find an opportunity somewhere. The free agent left-hander holds a 3.12 ERA, 1.278 WHIP, and 47/30 K/BB ratio over his last 92 1/3 major league innings dating back to the beginning of 2014.
Rays RHP prospect Matt Andriese tallied a career-high 14 strikeouts over seven shutout frames Tuesday for Triple-A Durham.
Andriese went up against Pirates top prospect Jameson Taillon in an epic pitcher's duel. Neither starter allowed a run in their combined 14 innings of work. Andriese actually made 25 appearances for the Rays last season, so he isn't really a prospect anymore. The 26-year-old has done a fine job for Durham this year, earning a 3.41 ERA with an 11.54 K/9 over six starts. Andriese may make a few spot starts here and there, but he's going to have a tough time cracking Tampa Bay's loaded starting rotation.
Daniel Nava (knee) is expected to rejoin the Angels on Friday.
And manager Mike Scioscia confirmed Wednesday that Nava will resume serving as the Angels' primary left fielder, which probably means Rafael Ortega is headed back to Triple-A. Nava has been on the disabled list since April 16 with left patella tendinitis.
DJ LeMahieu is out of the Rockies' lineup Wednesday.
LeMahieu has leveled off somewhat after his scorching start to the 2016 season and will take a day of mental and physical rest on Wednesday with the Rockies wrapping up a series in San Diego. Cristhian Adames is starting at second base and batting ninth in the matinee game versus Padres right-hander Cesar Vargas.
Pirates RHP prospect Jameson Taillon scattered two hits and one walk over seven shutout innings Tuesday in a no-decision for Triple-A Indianapolis.
He lowered his ERA from 1.54 to 1.19 while pushing his season strikeout total to 26. Taillon is now tied with Lehigh Valley's Zach Eflin for the International League lead in WHIP (0.76). The 24-year-old has handed out just three free passes in 30 1/3 innings this season. Finally healthy after spending all of last year recovering from Tommy John surgery, Taillon is poised to make his Pirates debut this summer.
Indians designated C Adam Moore for assignment.
Moore's stay in the majors only lasted a handful of days. He will probably make it through waivers.
Indians acquired C Chris Gimenez from the Rangers for cash considerations.
Gimenez was designated for assignment by the Rangers on May 3. He'll take over as the Indians' backup catcher, with Adam Moore getting shipped out in a corresponding roster move. Gimenez, 33, is a .218/.303/.336 career hitter.
Dodgers director of player development Gabe Kapler announced Wednesday that Erisbel Arruebarrena has been suspended for the rest of the season "for repeated failure to comply with the terms of his contract."
This is the same thing the Dodgers tried to do last May, but a grievance was filed and the suspension was reduced to 30 days. It might be best if these two parties simply go their separate ways, though the Dodgers still owe Arruebarrena around $17.5 million. The 26-year-old infielder was signed out of Cuba in 2013 and has been a major disappointment both off and on the field. He was slashing .182/.224/.400 with four home runs and 21 strikeouts in 17 games this season at Double-A Tulsa.
