Marco Scutaro is back in the Giants' lineup Tuesday.

Scutaro is dealing with "mallet finger" in his left pinkie, which is a form of tendon damage. The injury can often take 6-8 weeks to fully recover from, but Scutaro will try to play through it. He had missed the previous six games.

J.J. Putz (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

It's not clear how many rehab appearances Putz will need, but he seems likely to be activated within the next week or so. Heath Bell has been scored upon in each of his last three outings and seems likely to cede the closer job back to Putz.
Jun 18 - 7:01 PM

Jedd Gyorko (groin) took grounders on the field prior to Tuesday's game.

Gyorko landed on the DL over a week ago and is just now getting back into baseball activities. He's eligible to return in a week but will need to go out on a rehab assignment first. It's not clear when he'll be ready for that.
Jun 18 - 6:51 PM

Michael Morse is not in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday due to his nagging right quad injury.

Morse originally suffered the injury in late May, and he's been unable to totally shake it. The M's have admitted that they would have placed him on the DL earlier had they not been dealing with other injuries, and they're probably wishing they would have gone ahead and done it, anyway. Morse was out testing the quad prior to Tuesday's game and is hoping to be back in the lineup soon.
Jun 18 - 6:48 PM

Carlos Quentin (shoulder) is not in the Padres' lineup Tuesday.

He's now missed four straight starts with a sore left shoulder. Quentin remains day-to-day for now, but the disabled list will become a possibility if he doesn't improve in a hurry. Chris Denorfia is starting in left field Tuesday.
Jun 18 - 6:43 PM

Everth Cabrera (hamstring) is not in the Padres' lineup Tuesday.

Cabrera injured his left hamstring on Sunday and the plan is to give him a few days off. Alexi Amarista is getting the start at shortstop Tuesday.
Jun 18 - 6:41 PM

Tuesday's game between the Dodgers and Yankees has been postponed due to rain.

It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday. Scheduled starters Hyun-Jin Ryu and Phil Hughes will be pushed back a day.
Jun 18 - 6:39 PM

Shelby Miller reported feeling fine Tuesday after leaving Monday's start with a right leg cramp.

Miller was just a little dehydrated, so the Cards pulled him early as a precaution when his calf tightened up. He'll be fine for this weekend's start against the Rangers.
