Ben Revere is not in the Phillies' lineup Wednesday.
It appears to simply be a day off. Jeff Francoeur is in right field in Revere's place.
Mariners 1B prospect Jesus Montero slugged a grand slam in Tuesday's win for Triple-A Tacoma.
The grand slam was Montero's first since 2010 when he played for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Montero finished the night with four hits and six RBI. He needed just a triple to complete the cycle. The 25-year-old had his ups and downs in the big leagues (.258, 23 HR, 88 RBI in 188 games) but he's settled in nicely at Tacoma, hitting .300 across 51 games this season. He's been particularly effective with runners in scoring position, batting .369 in 65 at-bats.
Yankees designated RHP David Carpenter for assignment.
Carpenter has struggled this season, holding a 4.82 ERA with just 11 strikeouts over 18 2/3 innings. His velocity has been fine, though, so it's a surprise to see the Yankees give up on him considering his 2.63 ERA and over a strikeout per frame across the previous two seasons. The Yanks should be able to find a trade partner for him.
Yankees activated RHP Masahiro Tanaka from the 15-day disabled list.
Tanaka will rejoin the rotation on Wednesday against the Mariners and is slated for 80-85 pitches. The right-hander missed the last five and a half weeks with a right forearm strain and right wrist tendinitis. He remains a big health risk but obviously needs to be played by fantasy owners while he's on the mound.
Rockies optioned RHP David Hale to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Hale was decent in a spot start during Tuesday's doubleheader, allowing four runs in six innings versus the Dodgers. He should get another shot at some point.
Nationals optioned OF Matt den Dekker to Triple-A Syracuse.
Den Dekker was up as the 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader but didn't play. He returns to a .230/.299/.289 line at Syracuse.
Hunter Pence is not in the Giants' lineup Wednesday.
It appears to be a routine day off. Justin Maxwell is handling right field with Pence out.
Jake Peavy (back) will resume his rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.
Peavy had renewed back tightness after his last rehab start a week ago, but he got through a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday with no issues. He's slated for around 75 pitches on Saturday.
