Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

Ellsbury missed a few games during his rehab assignment last week due to fatigue in his legs, but he went through simulated game activities on Monday and the Yankees were apparently happy with what they saw. The outfielder has been on the shelf since mid-May with a right knee sprain.

Dexter Fowler has been moved down to the No. 7 spot in the Cubs' lineup on Monday.

Chris Coghlan is batting leadoff, where Fowler has hit in 72 of his 74 starts this season. The move down in the order comes as no surprise, as Fowler his batted just .158/.217/.250 over his last 21 games to drop his season line to .228/.305/.374.
Jul 6 - 6:12 PM

Khris Davis (knee) is slated to return from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Davis is ready to return now, but he played in five rehab games in five days through Sunday so the Brewers wanted to give him a day of rest before activating him. The outfielder missed five and a half weeks of action with a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Justin Germano has signed with the KT Wiz in Korea.

It will be Germano's third stint with an Asian club. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman says he'll earn $180,000 plus $50,000 in incentives, which should be a nice little pay increase after the Mariners released him last week from his minor league deal.

Tigers sent LHP Tom Gorzelanny outright to Triple-A Toledo.

Not surprisingly, Gorzelanny cleared waivers after being removed from the 40-man roster, although it's a little surprising that he's decided to accept a Triple-A assignment. He'll try to iron out his issues and earn a spot back in the big league bullpen.
Jul 6 - 5:42 PM

Nate Jones (elbow) is close to beginning a rehab assignment.

Jones is reportedly already throwing in the upper-90s again as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery. It will probably be August before he's ready to rejoin the White Sox' bullpen, but he could be an integral relief option for them down the stretch.
Jul 6 - 5:40 PM

Dodgers transferred LHP Paco Rodriguez from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Eric Surkamp. Rodriguez is out until at least September after surgery to remove loose bodies in his pitching elbow.
Jul 6 - 5:34 PM

Dodgers purchased the contract of LHP Eric Surkamp from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Surkamp had been expected to get a spot start Monday, but instead he's expected to be the first out of the bullpen. He seems likely to be designated for assignment after the game.
