Mike Minor was knocked around for six earned runs in six innings Saturday by a weak Cubs team.

Minor took a step in the right direction Monday against the Mets, allowing only two runs and two hits over seven strong innings, but his struggles returned Saturday at Wrigley Field. Chicago managed 11 hits off him -- including five doubles -- but the Atlanta offense was even better and netted him a victory. Minor has a disappointing 4.86 ERA and 1.49 WHIP on the season.

Edwin Jackson was shelled for nine earned runs in 3 2/3 innings Saturday as the Cubs lost to the Braves.

E-Jax was dreadful, yielding seven hits -- including three home runs -- while walking four Atlanta hitters. He's now by far the highest-paid player on the Cubs and simply hasn't lived up to his $11 million salary, now with a 5.64 ERA and 1.58 WHIP on the season.

Shane Greene delivered 7 1/3 scoreless innings Saturday in the Yankees' 3-0 blanking of the Orioles.

Greene struck out nine and surrendered only four hits in the dominant outing. He looks to be locked into a rotation spot with the Yankees, but his numbers at Triple-A were never very good and the 25-year-old right-hander is probably due for some regression in the second half.
Jul 12 - 7:13 PM

Jenrry Mejia tallied his 10th save of the season Saturday in the Mets' 5-4 defeat of the Marlins.

Mejia threw a perfect ninth inning, striking out one. He has been steadier than expected since taking over as the Mets' closer and should remain a valuable fantasy chip in the second half of the 2014 campaign.
Jul 12 - 7:10 PM

Christian Yelich homered Saturday in the Marlins' loss to the Mets.

It was a solo shot off Mets starter Daisuke Matsuzaka in the top of the fifth inning. Yelich has been scorching hot in July and could be ready to truly blossom in the second half of the 2014 regular season.
Jul 12 - 7:08 PM

Addison Reed picked up his 21st save of the season Saturday in the Diamondbacks' 2-0 win over the Giants.

Reed retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was a needed clean outing for the 25-year-old right-hander, who has blown five saves and owns a rough 4.30 ERA in 37 2/3 innings this season.
Jul 12 - 7:01 PM

Wade Miley hurled seven scoreless innings in the Diamondbacks' win over the Giants on Saturday.

Miley walked three but gave up only four hits in the impressive outing. He's been fantastic so far in July and will try to stay hot after the All-Star break. The Diamondbacks are expected to be sellers at this year's deadline but Miley is said to be unavailable.
Jul 12 - 6:59 PM

White Sox optioned RHP Andre Rienzo to Triple-A Charlotte.

Rienzo is 4-5 with a rough 5.87 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP in 24 appearances this year for the White Sox. He should have another chance later on in the season.
