Matt Duffy went 4-for-5 with an RBI double, a run scored and a stolen base as the Giants topped the Braves 8-3 on Tuesday.

Duffy had three singles to go with his RBI double, and the steal was his fifth of the year. The infielder hasn't had back-to-back hitless games since July 2-3, and Tuesday's outburst has his line up to .309/.346/.465. He'll have some stiff competition, but Duffy is square in the middle of the Rookie of the Year race in the National League.

Daniel Castro went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Giants.

Castro accounted for two of the Braves' three runs on the evening. The multi-hit game was the infielder's first since being recalled on July 25. Castro is hitting .316 through his first eight games in the majors.

Hunter Pence homered and had four RBI in a win over the Braves on Tuesday.

Pence had an RBI groundout in the sixth inning before launching a three-run homer in the eighth to give the Giants the lead. The home run was Pence's seventh of the season. The outfielder is hitting .288/.341/.506 with 35 RBI and 24 runs scored in 40 games this year.
Aug 4 - 11:22 PM

Gregor Blanco went 2-for-3 with four runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Braves.

Blanco walked twice along with his two hits, scoring all four times he reached base on the evening. Blanco is getting more playing time in recent days with Angel Pagan ailing. The 31-year-old is hitting .295/.376/.420 overall.

Ken Giles got the final four outs of Tuesday's 6-2 victory over the Dodgers to earn his third save of the season.

Giles cleaned up Jeanmar Gomez's mess in the eighth inning, striking out Jimmy Rollins for the third out. In the ninth, he worked around a leadoff walk of Howie Kendrick by striking out Adrian Gonzalez, getting Yasmani Grandal to line out, and striking out Yasiel Puig. Giles has earned the save in all three chances presented since Jonathan Papelbon was traded to the Nationals. He has a 1.72 ERA with a 59/21 K/BB ratio in 47 innings on the year.

Jerome Williams allowed 10 runners to reach base in five innings, but yielded only one run in a no-decision as the Phillies rallied late to beat the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Williams allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out six. He had at least two runners on base in each of his final three innings, but somehow managed to give up only the one run in the fifth. The right-hander has a poor 6.09 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and a 52/23 K/BB ratio in 85 2/3 innings. Williams will match up with the Padres on the road in his next outing.
Aug 4 - 11:15 PM

Shelby Miller allowed two runs over seven innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Tuesday.

Miller gave up just four hits and walked three over his seven innings, and he left in line for his sixth win. Instead, Miller settled for a no-decision, leaving him at 5-8 on the year. Miller owns a 2.44 ERA and 1.16 WHIP through 22 starts. He'll square off with the Marlins on Sunday.
Aug 4 - 11:14 PM

Alex Wood lost in his Dodgers debut, allowing four runs in 6 1/3 innings to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Wood limited the Phillies to one run in six innings, but he faltered in the seventh. He served up a leadoff single to Carlos Ruiz, who moved up to second on a ground out. Then, the lefty walked Cesar Hernandez. Facing Odubel Herrera, he uncorked what appeared to be a wild pitch but was ruled a balk. Herrera ended up walking, and Wood was replaced by Joel Peralta, who allowed all three of Wood's runners to score on a Maikel Franco grand slam. Overall, Wood gave up eight hits and a pair of walks while striking out eight, tying a season-high. He'll bring his 3.65 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 98/38 K/BB ratio over 125 2/3 innings into a road start against the Pirates next.
