Jonathan Lucroy will be placed on the disabled list after suffering a fractured toe on his left foot during Monday's game versus the Reds.

Apr 20 - 9:56 PM

Wily Peralta yielded six runs over seven innings in a loss to the Reds on Monday.

Peralta made a couple of mistake pitches at inopportune times. One resulted in a three-run home run to Zack Cozart in the sixth inning, and the other was a two-run home run by Joey Votto in the seventh. Overall, Peralta gave up eight hits, walked three, and struck out five. The right-hander will bring a 5.68 ERA into his next start, at home against the Cardinals.

Zack Cozart went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run on Monday in a win over the Brewers.

Cozart lifted a three-run home run to left field off of Wily Peralta in the sixth inning, bumping the Reds' lead up to 4-0. Cozart, who finished with a .568 OPS last season, has been hot at the plate to begin the season, batting .326/.367/.522 with two home runs and five RBI.
Apr 20 - 9:52 PM

Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run as the Reds topped the Brewers on Monday.

Votto's two-run home run in the seventh inning off of Wily Peralta padded the Reds' lead to 6-0 at the time. That marks five round-trippers on the season for the first baseman, who missed more than half of the 2014 season with a quad strain. Votto also owns a .375/.492/.771 triple-slash line with 12 RBI, making him by far the Reds' most productive hitter to start the season.
Apr 20 - 9:50 PM

Ryan Braun provided the Brewers their only run with a ninth-inning solo home run in Monday's loss to the Reds.

The Brewers entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 6-0, so Braun's solo homer -- his first of the season -- off of Burke Badenhop barely made a dent. Braun has been off to a slow start this season, currently slashing .238/.273/.310 in 44 trips to the dish.

Alfredo Simon limited the Yankees to one run over seven innings as the Tigers went on to a 2-1 victory on Monday.

Simon made one mistake on Monday evening, resulting in a Mark Teixeira solo home run in the second inning. The right-hander was in line for the loss until the Tigers rallied for two runs in the seventh. Simon gave up seven hits in total, issued no walks, and struck out seven. He's had back-to-back sterling outings, having shut out the Pirates over eight innings previously, and will take a 3-0 record with a 1.74 ERA into his next start against the Indians at home.
Apr 20 - 9:41 PM

CC Sabathia pitched well but took a tough-luck loss on Monday against the Tigers, yielding two runs in eight innings.

Sabathia shut the Tigers out through six innings, but the Tigers rallied with a pair of two-out RBI singles from J.D. Martinez and Yoenis Cespedes to take the lead in the seventh. On most other nights, Sabathia would have gotten a win, but opposing starter Alfredo Simon was on point. Overall, Sabathia gave up seven hits and three walks while striking out five. The lefty will take a 4.35 ERA and a 20/4 K/BB ratio in 20 2/3 innings in search of his first win at home against the Mets in his next start.
Apr 20 - 9:38 PM

Joakim Soria retired the Yankees in order in the ninth inning, recording his fifth save on Monday.

Soria got Brett Gardner to ground out, followed by fly outs from Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira. The right-hander, filling in for Joe Nathan in the closer's role, is 5-for-5 in save chances with a 1.35 ERA and a 4/0 K/BB ratio in 6 2/3 innings.
