Nationals recalled OF Rafael Bautista from Triple-A Syracuse.

Bautista was off to a red-hot start this season at Syracuse, but the 25-year-old outfielder probably won't be up for very long and doesn't carry any mixed-league fantasy relevance.

Nationals recalled INF Adrian Sanchez from Triple-A Syracuse.

Sanchez is starting at third base and batting seventh Tuesday night against the Giants. The 27-year-old could get regular action at the hot corner while Anthony Rendon recovers from a bruised left toe.
Apr 24 - 7:21 PM

Nationals optioned INF Matt Reynolds to Triple-A Syracuse.

Reynolds was 1-for-12 (.083) during his two-week stay with Washington. The 27-year-old infielder holds a .220/.292/.336 career batting line in the bigs.

Nationals placed RHP Shawn Kelley on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.

Kelly was removed from an appearance Monday night against the Giants due to irritation in the ulnar nerve in his right elbow. This could be an extended absence for the 33-year-old setup man, who has needed two Tommy John surgeries.

Jack Flaherty is lined up to join the Cardinals' rotation Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Nothing is official yet, but Flaherty was the scheduled starter Wednesday at Triple-A Memphis and that has since been changed to a "TBD." The 22-year-old right-hander struck out nine Brewers over five innings of one-run ball back on April 3 before getting optioned to Triple-A Memphis on April 4. This might be another short stay for him with Adam Wainwright (elbow) expected back next week.
Apr 24 - 7:04 PM

Matt Strahm (knee) is scheduled to make back-to-back minor league rehab appearances next week.

If those two outings go well, Strahm should then be cleared to join the Padres' bullpen. The 26-year-old left-hander has experience as a starter, but it sounds like he is going to work in relief all season for San Diego. Strahm is nearing the end of his recovery from a torn left patellar tendon.
Apr 24 - 6:52 PM

Rich Hill (finger) is expecting to return to the Dodgers' rotation Monday in Arizona.

Hill made it through a simulated game Tuesday without experiencing any issues with his cracked left middle fingernail. The veteran southpaw had a disappointing 6.00 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 16/7 K/BB ratio through 15 innings (three starts) this season with Los Angeles. He was placed on the disabled list April 15.
Apr 24 - 6:46 PM

Orlando Arcia is out of the Brewers' starting lineup on Tuesday because of a stomach bug.

His ankle is fine, so it's a safe bet that the 23-year-old shortstop will return to action Wednesday. Eric Sogard is starting at short and batting ninth Tuesday night against Royals right-hander Ian Kennedy.
