Rays recalled OF Mikie Mahtook from Triple-A Durham.
He's in Friday's lineup in left field. Mahtook has just three hits in 20 at-bats with the Rays this season, but two of them have left the yard.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Cubs have not discussed Alex Wood with the Dodgers.
It refutes an earlier report from Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Rosenthal does note that the Dodgers discussed Wood in a potential deal with the Indians, but it doesn't appear that one will happen. The Dodgers may be shopping the young lefty, but for now it looks like he'll stay put.
Joe Panik (back) is back in the Giants' lineup Friday.
Panik missed a couple games with a stiff back. He returns to a .309/.375/.440 batting line.
Hanley Ramirez (shin) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.
Ramirez injured his shin during Thursday's game. He's considered day-to-day. Alejandro De Aza is in left field Friday.
Pablo Sandoval (forearm) is not in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.
Sandoval was hit on the left forearm by a pitch on Thursday. He merely has a bruise and should be fine in a day or two. Josh Rutledge is filling in at third base.
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that there's "nothing happening" on the Justin Upton trade front and "it appears he's staying put at deadline."
Things can always change, of course, but there has been surprisingly little trade rumors of late involving the outfielder. The Padres appear content to pick up a draft pick for Upton this winter rather than deal him for a trade package they deem unsatisfactory.
Marlins recalled RHP Jose Urena from Triple-A New Orleans.
He'll rejoin the rotation following the trade of Mat Latos and Dan Haren. Urena has put up a 4.04 ERA in 42 1/3 innings for the big club this season.
Marlins activated INF Donovan Solano from the paternity leave list.
He'll return to his utility role. Solano is hitting an embarrassing .145/.185/.210 over 44 games.
