Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that the Yankees "are not being aggressive" in their pursuit of Ian Kennedy.

It essentially backs up what CBS Sports' Jon Heyman said, as Heyman noted Thursday night that while the Yanks like Kennedy, they're not prepared to give up both third base prospect Eric Jagielo and pitching prospect Ian Clarkin for him. That was the proposed package that ESPN's Jim Bowden reported, but it would be a steep price given that they were the Yankees' two first-round picks last season. San Diego is listening on Kennedy, but he's under control next season so they don't feel obligated to move him now.

Indians manager Terry Francona said Thursday that there remains no timetable for Michael Bourn's (hamstring) return.

"When he's ready to play, he's ready to play," Francona said. Bourn played catch in the outfield on Thursday but has yet to test out his strained left hamstring with any running. He's already missed nearly three weeks, so it sounds like he'll be lucky to make it back within the projected 3-4 week timetable that was offered when he went down.

Yoenis Cespedes (thumb) was available to pinch-hit Thursday.

Cespedes didn't start the game after spraining his right thumb on an awkward swing Wednesday. It's a bit of a concern because he's had hand issues in the past, but this one does seem like a minor ailment. Cespedes is listed as day-to-day.

David Ortiz (back) will be re-evaluated on Friday before it's determined how much time he might miss.

Ortiz exited Wednesday's game after admitting to feeling "like a little pop or something" in his upper back during his final at-bat. "I don’t know. We haven’t talked about it yet," Ortiz said of whether he will miss any additional time. "Pretty sure I can probably come in and see how it goes. But hopefully it’s nothing serious."

Rockies sent RHP Jair Jurrjens outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Jurrjens had been designated for assignment, but he's cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. The veteran righty held a 10.61 ERA and 2.46 WHIP in two starts for the Rockies.

Mariners activated RHP Blake Beavan from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-a Tacoma.

Beavan is over his shoulder issue, but he'll join Tacoma's rotation rather than the big league roster. The righty allowed two runs over four frames in his lone start for the M's.

Dayan Viciedo went 0-for-5 at the plate in his return to action Thursday.

Viciedo missed Wednesday's game with tightness in his left lower hamstring, but it turned out to only be a one-day thing. Now hitless in his last 15 at-bats, Viciedo's batting line is down to .233/.283/.395.

Eric Hosmer entered Thursday's game as a defensive replacement.

Hosmer's bruised right hand leaves him unable to swing a bat at the moment, as he was pinch-hit for by Raul Ibanez. He could be limited to defensive work for a few more days.
