Yan Gomes finished 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

The double was Gomes' 16th this season, giving him 39 RBI. The catcher has come out of the blocks in the second half with purpose, as he's 9-for-17 with four doubles, a home run, three RBI and five runs scored in five games. The heater has upped his season line to .276/.322/.464.

Jake Odorizzi limited the Cardinals to two earned runs over 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in the Rays' 7-2 win.

Odorizzi yielded a leadoff solo home run to Matt Carpenter in the bottom of the first inning but settled in after that, out-dueling Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright. The 24-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.39 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 49 innings (eight starts) since June 10. He's a must-own in all standard fantasy leagues. A home start against the Brewers is next.

Nick Swisher went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in a win over the Twins on Tuesday.

Swisher swatted two singles and a ground-rule double on the evening, coming around to score two of the Indians' eight runs. That it was his first three-hit affair of the 2014 season speaks to the down year Swisher has had to this point. The Brohio native did come out of the gate fast in the second half, and perhaps the break was just what Swisher needed to get going in the right direction at the dish.

Yohan Pino allowed four runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Indians on Tuesday.

Pino had limited his opponents to two runs in his final two starts before the break, but the 30-year-old failed to carry that momentum over to the second half. The right-hander gave up a home run to Carlos Santana among his seven hits allowed, but he didn't walk a batter while striking out five. Pino may stick around with the lack of better options currently in Minnesota, but he offers little in the way of fantasy upside.

Danny Salazar held the Twins to one run on six hits over five innings in Tuesday's win.

Making his first start since May 15, Salazar showed flashes of his 2013 dominance while also exhibiting some of the shortcomings that led to his demotion earlier this season. The second inning was a perfect example of both, as he recorded all three outs via strikeout but not before walking the bases loaded. He struck out six overall, while the three second-inning walks were his only three of the game. Given his immense talent and the fact that he fared well, he likely earned another turn in the rotation. He's worth a shot in deeper mixed leagues.

Jordan Lyles (hand) is on pace to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on August 4.

"He'll certainly be close, if not ready to go, at that point," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. Lyles threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Modesto on Saturday. The righty surprised with a 3.52 ERA in his first 11 starts before breaking the middle metacarpal on his left hand in early June.

Jonathan Lucroy's second home run of the game also served to give the Brewers a 4-3, walk-off victory over the Reds on Tuesday.

Lucroy homered off Reds starter Homer Bailey in the sixth inning, and leading off the ninth he took reliever Sam LeCure out to send the fans home happy. The homers were his first since July 4, also against the Reds. The All-Star catcher has now got 11 home runs to go with a .310/.381/.500 line on the year.

Allen Craig went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts in the Cardinals' loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Craig was an odd choice to start against Rays right-hander Jake Odorizzi with left-handed-hitting outfielder Oscar Taveras sitting on the Cardinals' bench. Taveras entered the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and capped off an eight-pitch at-bat with a single into right-center field. Craig is hitting just .242/.292/.354 this season.
