Indians purchased the contract of LHP Jeff Beliveau from Triple-A Columbus.

This is the corresponding move for setup man Andrew Miller (hamstring) being placed on the 10-day disabled list. Beliveau will be available out of the Indians' bullpen on Thursday night against the Mariners.

Indians placed LHP Andrew Miller on the 10-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.

Miller suffered the injury during an appearance Wednesday night against the Cubs. He figures to miss around two weeks. The dominant left-handed setup man leaves behind a 0.00 ERA and 17/4 K/BB ratio in 10 innings.

Twins claimed RHP David Hale off waivers from the Yankees.

Hale was designated for assignment by New York earlier this week despite tossing two scoreless innings of relief in his one appearance for the Yankees. The 30-year-old right-hander holds a 4.43 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 123/62 K/BB ratio in 180 2/3 career innings at the MLB level.

X-rays showed no fractures in Guillermo Heredia's wrist.

Heredia left a game at Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday night after getting hit on the arm by a pitch, but he was able to finish that at-bat and should be fine after a couple days of rest. The 27-year-old outfielder was optioned to the Triple-A level last week in a somewhat controversial move. He had a .310/.417/.552 batting line over his first 16 games this season with the Mariners.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway indicated Thursday that Steven Matz will remain on turn in the starting rotation.

"We’re going to get him where he needs to be," Callaway told reporters. Matz allowed seven runs -- three earned -- over just 3 1/3 innings in Wednesday night's loss to the Cardinals and now holds a 4.98 ERA through 21 2/3 total innings (five starts) this season. He's lined up to face the Braves next week, though an off day could allow the Mets to skip that start.

Cardinals recalled RHP John Gant from Triple-A Memphis.

Gant will join the Cardinals' bullpen ahead of Thursday afternoon's series finale against the Mets. The 25-year-old right-hander was rocking a 2.25 ERA in 24 innings (four starts) this season with Memphis.
Apr 26 - 11:06 AM

Cardinals optioned RHP John Brebbia to Triple-A Memphis.

Brebbia earned a three-inning save on Wednesday night, but the Cardinals wanted to call up a fresh bullpen arm ahead of Thursday afternoon's series finale against the Mets. Brebbia should be back soon enough.

Logan Morrison is out of the Twins' lineup Thursday.

Joe Mauer will take a turn at DH, with Miguel Sano playing first base and Eduardo Escobar starting at third. Morrison is batting .113/.214/.177 through his first 70 plate appearances with Minnesota.
